William Sweeney

In 1930, William Sweney (31) and his wife Elizabeth (25) lived with William's widowed father, Victory (Victor?) Sweney on Victor's farm in Jackson Twp., Perry Co., OH. Living with them was William's daughter, Patricia (1 yr 7 mos). The family did not own a radio set.


John Sweeney

John Sweeney was living in New Lexington, Perry Co., OH in 1999. He was single at the time.

Norma Jean Hillis

MSGR. READS RAUCH-HILLIS MARRIAGE
SATURDAY at 10 a.m. in St. Frances de Sales Church the wedding of Miss Norma Jean Hillis and Kenny Francis Rauch was solemnized. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. H. E. Mattingly, Columbus, uncle of the bridegroom, officiated at the double ring service and celebrated the nuptial high mass.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hillis of 453 Granville Rd., and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Margaret Rauch of 176 Pierson Blvd. , and the late Floyd Rauch.
The high altar was decorated with two gold vases filled with white chrysanthemums and pompoms. The side altars were adorned with white chrysanthemums.
Mrs. William Schopen, organist, played a half-hour program of wedding music before the ceremony and the men’s choir sand the mass.
Given in marriage by her father, the bridge wore a gown of nylon tulle and imported Chantilly lace. Fashioned along princess lines, the bodice fastened in the back with tiny self-covered buttons. The deep square neck was edged in scalloped lace, and the long fitted sleeves tapered to points over the hands. The bouffant skirt featured shirred side panels and was worn over crinoline and a Dior hoop, extending into a wide chapel train. Her fingertip veil of imported French illusion fell from a crown of scalloped Chantilly lace. The bridal bouquet was of white roses and baby chrysanthemums.
Mrs. Charlie Franks, sister of the bridge, was matron of honor. Her waltz length gown of was of apricot taffeta, designed along princess lines. The close fitting bodice was fashioned with a “V” neckline with tiny self-covered buttons down the front and short sleeves. The full skirt had a large bow in the back. A headband of dark brown taffeta with a theater veil matched the shoes.
Miss Ruth Ann Hillis, also a sister of the bride, served as bridesmaid. She wore a gown matching that of the matron of honor in style, but which was jade green in color. Both carried gold and bronze baby chrysanthemums.
Charles Franks served as best man and guests were seated by Mel Braidich, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Thomas Fetter.
The wedding breakfast was held following the ceremony in the YMCA Community Center for the immediate family. Hostesses for the reception held at the YMCA from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. were Misses Shirley Richmer, Barbara Altmeyer, Marianne Tanner, and Mrs. Kenneth Kurtz of Columbus.
The bride’s mother chose a dark blue suit, a mink scarf, and pink and black accessories. Her shoulder corsage was pink carnations. The bridegroom’s mother wore a sheer wool willow green dress with matching hat and black and white accessories.
The bride is a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and Mt. Carmel Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus. She is employed by Newark Hospital as a member of the staff. MR. Rauch is a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and is associated with M. C. Sutton and Son.
