Donald Charles Crum

Donald C. Crum
Age 80, of Canton passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 14, 2008. He was born on May 31, 1928 in Bern, OH. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked for LTV Steel and retired to Ft. Myers, FL for several years before returning home to Canton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores (Marchbank); his sister, Eileen Crum. He is survived by two children, Jane Thomas and John Crum. He was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He also leaves behind many close friends, especially Bonnie Blakeway. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. To honor his wishes, no services are planned and he will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.


George Otis Beckett

Obituary:

George Otis Beckett, age 89, of Caldwell, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born July 25, 1916, in Sharon, Ohio, son of the late Joseph and Lola Lorenze Beckett. He was a self-employed truck driver and a member of the Caldwell Free Methodist Church. He was also a World War II Army veteran, and a member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, David Beckett. Surviving are his wife, Donna Lee Wells Beckett; one son, Dave (Karen) Davis of Lancaster, Ohio; two daughters, Janet Bailey of Caldwell and Mrs. Karl (Jayne) Crum of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, January 5, 2006, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the service will be Friday, January 6 at 1 PM with Pastor Dave Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell, with military graveside services conducted by the Noble County Veterans Services Organizations.


Laura Edna Brubach

Laura is not mentioned as a surviving child in the 1950 death notice of her father.

Frieda Edna Matz

Researcher Richard Harrington has Frieda's maiden name as Maltz, which contradicts this note from page 8 of the Zanesville Signal on 10 May 1924:

Sylvester S. Brubach

Obituary:

Sylvester S. "Ves" Brubach, 75, well-known retired druggist, died Tuesday, September 22, 1959 at 2:30 p.m. at is home on South Main Street after a few months illness. Mr. Brubach had been a druggist in Woodsfield for the past 47 years, and retired February 1 of this year, when the Brubach Drug Store was taken over by William Finnical.
A member of St. Sylvester's Catholic Church in Woodsfield, he was a member of the Holy Name society, the Maccabees at Zanesville, the Knights of Columbus at Caldwell, and the BPO elks Lodge at Sisterville. Born March 16, 1884, a son of Jacob and Mary Nauer Brubach, he was first married to Ella Reich Brubach, who died in 1952. He was married to Marie McCormack in 1954, who survives, along with two brothers, Edward Brubach and Charles Brubach, both of Canton, and several nieces and nephews. The body was returned to the family home Wednesday afternoon, where the Rosary will be recited Thursday at 8 p.m. A Requiem High Mass will be sung at St. Sylvester's church on Friday at 10 a.m. (EDT), with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. G. Mehler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with the Brubach funeral home of Summerfield in charge of arrangements.


Ella C. Reich

Ella Brubach (nee Reich) A Solemn Requiem High mass was solemnized Saturday morning at nine o'clock in St. Sylvester's Church for Mrs. Ella Brubach, 64, wife of S.S. Brubach, Woodsfield druggist. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.G. Mehler was the celebrant; Rev. Robert A. Brown, the deacon, and Rev. F.J. Schutz, of Miltonsburg, the sub-deacon. Interment was in the church cemetery with the Brubach Funeral Home of Summerfield in charge. Mrs. Brubach died on Wednesday morning, October 1, at 11:15 o'clock at her home on South Main Street after a several months' illness. A daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Claus Reich, she was born April 11, 1888, near Woodsfield. She was a devout member of St. Sylvester's Church, being a member of the Altar Society, Purgatorial Society, and the Catholic Women's Club. She was also a member of the Lady Maccabees. Surviving besides her husband are three sisters, Mrs. Charles Sulsberger, of Climbing Hill, Iowa; Mrs. Phillip Gertler of Barnesville, and Mrs. O.S. Freitag, of near Woodsfield; two brothers, George and William Reich, of Woodsfield; also several nieces and nephews and many friends. Mrs. Brubach, lovingly known to all her friends and acquaintances as "Ella" was kind and considerate to all she met, and her friendly disposition will be a cherished memory for all who knew her.
