John H. Arnold

At the time of the 1920 census, John Arnold (29) owned a farm in Warren Twp. , Washington County, Ohio. Other members of the household were his wife, Virginia M. (27), children Dorothy F. (4 yrs 9 mos) and William J. (2 yrs 3 mos); brother Raymond A. (27) and his wife Elizabeth (29), and their sons Mark W. (4 yrs 7 mos) and Andre F. (1 yr 11 mos).

In 1930, farmer John H. Arnold (39) owned a farm in Warren Twp.. Living with him were his wife, Mary V. (37), Dorothy (15), John W. (12), George R. (10), Mary L. (8), James S. (5), Anthony A. (3 yrs 2 mos), and twins Aline L. and Irene L. (1 yr 1 mo.). The oldes four children attended school. Everyone in the household was a native of Ohio.

Sister Maria Arnold's obituary appeared in the Columbus Dispatch on 17 Nov 2008:

ARNOLD, O. P. Sr. Maria Arnold died on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Mohun Health Care Center. She was born in Marietta, OH, on March 16, 1915, to John and Virginia (Schilling) Arnold.
She entered the Novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1933 and made her Profession of Vows in 1936. Sr. Maria received her B.S. from St. Mary of the Springs College (now Ohio Dominican University) and her MS Ed in Library Science from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. In the Columbus Diocese, she taught at St. Francis, Newark (1962-63); St. James the Less, (1964-65); and served as Faculty Librarian at Newark Catholic High School, (1977-2000). Sister also ministered in Steubenville in Ohio, and in Connecticut, Michigan, and Pennsylvania as either a teacher or librarian. Sr. Maria retired and did supportive service at the Motherhouse before coming to Mohun Health Care Center in 2004.
Sister was preceded in death by brothers William, George, Jerry and Anthony and a sister Bertha. She is survived by a brother, James (Maglena); and sisters, Mary Lou Huck, Allene Huck and Irene Lang.
Sr. Maria will be missed by additional family members, especially, her niece Sr. Catherine Arnold, OP, of St. Mary of the Springs; as well as by cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.
The viewing will be in the Motherhouse on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 3-4:30 p.m. A Vigil Service of Remembrance will take place from 4:30-5:30 p.m. that day with wake continuing until 6:30 pm. The funeral liturgy will be on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 E. Broad St., in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts in Sister's memory may be sent to Dominican Sisters, St. Mary of the Springs, 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43219
