John Francis Shott

On September 12, 1918, John Francis Shott (40 - dob August 24, 1888) of 430 Moler St. Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card, his nearest relative was Minnie Shott of the same address. His physical description is given as medium height, stout build, blue eyes and black hair. His occupation is given as laborer but the company and the company's address are illegible on the registration card.

In 1930, 50 year old Frank Shott lived with his wife Minnie (35) on a farm they owned (value $3000) in Canaan Twp., Athens Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Gertrude M. (12), Anna F. (10), Mary (7), William A. (5 yrs 7 mos), and Henry Thomas (1 yr 10 mos). The 3 older children attended school. All members of the household were born in Ohio [Note: Originally, the censtus form indicated that Minnie was born in Pennsylvania but this was partially erased and overwritten with Ohio.]. Frank's parens were born in Ohio and Minnie's in Pennsylvania. The family did not own a radio set.

On April 27, 1942 John Francis Shott (63 - dob Aug. 24, 1878, pob Athens, Ohio) of Marienville, Forest Co., Pennsylvania registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card, the person who would always know his address was Mrs. Minnie Shott of Marienville, Pennsylvania. He was employed by the Marienville Glass Co. His physical description is given as height 5'5", weight 165 lbs., eyes blue, hair brown. Under other physical characteristics, there is a notation "Right arm miss at shoulder."


Lewis James Shott

On September 12, 1918, 37 year old Lewis James Shott ( dob March 31, 1881) of 430 Moler St., Columbus, Ohio. registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card, he was employed as a glass bottle blower by the Marienville Glass Co. of Marienville, Forest Co., Pennsylvania. His nearest relative is listed as Anna Shott of Moler St. Columbus, Ohio. His physical description is given as medium height and build, brown eyes and black hair.

In 1910, 29 year old Louis J. shott lived with his wife of 5 years, Lydia (27) at 1738 Missouri Ave., East St. Louis. St. Clair Co., Illinois. Louis and Lyda as well as Lydia's parents and Louis' father were born in Ohio. Louis' mother was born in Virginia. Louis worked as a glass blower in a glass factory.

In 1920, 38 year old farmer Lewis Shott lived with his wife Lyda (37) on a farm they owned in Canaan Twp., Athens Co., Ohio. Lewis and Lyda as well as their parents were born in Ohio.

In 1930, 49 year old Louis Shott lived with his wife Lyda (47) as roomers in the home of Frank Conklan at 1605 Chicago Road, Chicago Heights, Cook Co., Illinois. Based on census records, they had been married for 24 years. Louis and Lyda as well as their parents were born in Ohio. Louis worked as a glass blower in a bottle factory.

Walter Aloysius Shott

On June 5, 1917 Walter Allysius Shott (25, dob February 21, 1892, pob Athens Co., Ohio) of 442 Gates St., Columbus, Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card he was a self employed barber with his place of business at 1376 S. Parsons Ave., Columbus, Ohio. He was married and had 1 child (8 months). His physical description is given as Height: tall; build: medium; eyes: light blue; hair: brown.

In 1920, 27 year old Walter Shott lived with his wife Gladys (26) in a rented home at 494 Hanford St., Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Anna Louise (3 yrs 6 mos.) and Walter Jr. (1 yr 4 mos.). Walter worked as a laborer in a lamp factory. Walter and the children were born in Ohio and Gladys in West. Virginia. Walter's father was born in Ohio and his mother and Gladys' parents were born in West Virginia.


In 1930, 38 year old Waller Shott lived with his wife Gladys (36) in a rented home (rent $40/mo) at 402 Frebis St., Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Anna L. (13), Walter A. Jr. (11), James L. (9), Dolores (7), Richard (4 yrs 10 mos) and Patrick (1 yr 10 mos). Walter and the children were born in Ohio as was Walters father, Gladys and her parents and Walters mother were born in West Virginia. Walter worked as a boiler maker in a railroad shop. The four oldest children attended school. The family owned a radio set.

According to his death certificate, Walter was a widower when he died.

Preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survived by wife of 56 years, Helen; brother, James; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
