Frederick J. Heiss

Frederick J. Heiss, 73, of Lowell Hill Road, Waterford, Ohio, died 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.
He was born Aug. 20, 1932, in Beverly, Ohio, a son of Joseph A. and Delilah P. Nicholas Heiss. He was a farmer and had worked construction as a union carpenter. He had also worked for Marietta Silo's. He attended Waterford High School. He was a longtime member of the National Farmers Organization (NFO). He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and a member of the sons of American Legion Post 389.
He married Rosemary Brooker Heiss, who survives, on April 11, 1951. He is also survived by 17 children, Joseph Heiss of Waterford, Jim and Cindy Heiss of Woodlawn, Tenn., Jerry and Ginny Heiss of Waterford, John and Mary Ann Heiss of Waterford, Gene Heiss of Lowell, Ohio, Tom Heiss of Waterford, Dan Heiss of Lowell, Alberta and Bill Wesel of Marietta, Cecilia Sciance of Waterford, Toby and Leslie Heiss of Waterford, Julie and Brian Wilson of Lowell, Jennifer and George Holmes of Swanee, Ga., Alva and Debra Heiss of Beverly, Ellie and Mike Tullius of Beverly, Tony and Susie Heiss of Waterford, PJ Offenberger of Waterford and Lucy and Brad Duff of Lowell; 50 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a number of stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; four brothers, George and Camilla Heiss of Beverly, Donivan and Fay Heiss of Waterford, Bernard and Norma Heiss of Waterford and Leonard and Sharon Heiss of Worland, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Maurice, and twin brothers.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Church at Churchtown, with Father Fred Kihm officiating. The first part of the funeral procession will be with horse-drawn farm wagon. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery with the Sons of American Legion at the grave. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at McCurdy Funeral Home, with a Rosary service 4 p.m. Friday.

Jerry L. Heiss

WATERFORD -- Jerry L. Heiss, 52, of Township Road 145, Waterford, passed away Friday (Feb. 24, 2006) on his farm near Beverly. He was born Jan. 25, 1954, in Marietta, a son of Frederick J. and Rosemary Brooker Heiss. He owned Salem Ridge Contractors. He graduated from Waterford High School and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Beverly, Knights of Columbus, Sons of American Legion Post 389 Beverly, Beverly Eagles 3665, NFO. Married on July 29, 1972, to Virginia "Ginny" Kidder Heiss. He is survived by his wife; mother; four children, Jessica and husband, Frank Lauric, of Veto, Ohio, Lee Heiss and his wife, Jennifer, of Waterford, Naaman Heiss and wife, Amy, of Stockport, Lucas Heiss and companion, Elizabeth McCullaugh, of Waterford; 12 grandchildren, Frankie, Hayley, and Olivia Lauric, Levi, Alana, Trevor, and Lee Jr. Heiss, Ceirra, Zane, and Mason Heiss, Kylee and Brayden Heiss; nine brothers, Joseph Heiss of Waterford, Jim and Cindy Heiss of Woodlawn, Tenn., John and Mary Ann Heiss of Waterford, Gene Heiss of Lowell, Tom Heiss of Waterford, Dan Heiss of Lowell, Toby and Leslie Heiss of Waterford, Alva and Debra Heiss of Beverly, and Tony and Susie Heiss of Waterford; seven sisters, Albert and Bill Wesel of Marietta, Cecilia Sciance of Waterford, Julie and Brian Wilson of Lowell, Jennifer and George Holmes of Swanee, Ga., Ellie and Mike Tullius of Beverly, PJ Offenberger of Waterford, and Lucy and Brad Duff of Lowell; father and mother-in-law, Wallace and Helen Kidder of Palmer; one brother-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Kidder of Palmer; three sisters-in-law, Brenda and Wayne Pugh of Palmer, Judy and Rod Ward of Florida, Deborah Kearns of Waterford. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Maurice Heiss.Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Beverly with Monsignor Robert Kawa officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly. Rosary services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
