Gerald J. Roth

JERRY ROTH DIES; CITIZENS BUDGET MANAGER
Gerald (Jerry) Roth, 63, manager of Citizens Budget Company on North Fifth street, died at 6:40 a.m. Friday (June 27) at Good Samaritan hospital where he was taken Thursday night after suffering a heart attack at his home on Newark road.
Mr. Roth had served as manager, secretary-treasurer and a member of the board of directors of the budget company since 1951. He also served as treasurer, manager and a member of the Zanesville Citizens Mortgage Company.
Born April 16, 1906 in Woodsfield, Monroe County, a son of William and Ada Yoho Roth, he moved to Zanesville 50 years ago.
He was educated in Zanesville public schools and attended Meredith Business College. Prior to joining Citizens Budget, he had been employed 10 years by Economy Savings and Loan Association. Mr. Roth was a member and past president of Zanesville Kiwanis Club and was noted for his hobbies as a gardener and raising cattle.
Surviving are his widow, the former Virginia Korn; a son, Bernard Roth of Lancaster; a daughter, Mrs. Janet Lewis of 1609 Superior avenue; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Roth of Carmel, Ill.
The body was taken to Blue Avenue Chapel of Bolin Funeral Home where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.


Virginia P. Korn

ZANESVILLE -- Virginia P. Roth, 93, of Zanesville, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Saint Raphael's Nursing Home, Columbus.
She was born Sunday, Dec. 11, 1910, and resided in Zanesville most of her life. She was a lifelong and active member of Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, where she was active with the Women's Auxillary. She was a 1929 graduate of Saint Nicholas School (now Rosecrans) and valedictorian of her class.
Surviving are a son, Bernard (Lura) Roth of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Michael) Azbell of Lancaster, Jodi Vinsel of Columbus, Michael (Susan) Roth of Lancaster, Jeff (Mary Joan) Lewis of Zanesville, Jay (Heidi) Lewis of Cincinnati and Jennifer (Michael) Browning of Columbus; a grandson-in-law, Michael McGee of Lancaster; a son-in-law, Jim Loyd of Zanesville; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald (Jerry) Roth, who died June 27, 1969; her parents, Frank and Florentine Weisend Korn; two sisters, Mildred Korn Rapp of Zanesville and Mary Korn Holmes of Zanesville; two brothers, Fritz Korn of Zanesville and George Korn of Zanesville; her daughter, Janet Lewis Loyd of Zanesville; and a granddaughter, Lori McGee of Lancaster.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., with Christian Vigil at 6 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, with Father Robert Kitzmiller as celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.

Bernard G. Roth

Bernard "Bernie" G. Roth, 71, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at his residence after a battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Zanesville on July 9, 1933, and graduated from Rosecrans High School in 1951. He was a member of FOE Aerie 2120 and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He also was actively involved for many years in the Lancaster Soap Box Derby and Lancaster Men's Chorus. He served as the service-safety director for the city of Lancaster from January 1969 to December 1972. He retired from Anchor Hocking in 1987 as a credit manager.
His loving family survives him; his wife of 48 years, Lura; daughter, Stephanie (Mike) Azbell; son, Michael (Susan) Roth; son-in-law, Mike (Susan) McGee, all of Lancaster; three grandsons, Nick and Rusty Azbell and Shane Roth, many nieces and nephews; and special family friends, John and Marnie Furniss, Linda Kraft, and Jim and Kathy Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Virginia Korn Roth Zanesville; sister, Janet (Lloyd), all of Zanesville; and daughter, Lori (Roth) McGee of Lancaster.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sheridan Funeral Home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Sheridan Funeral Home with Father Peter M. Gideon officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to FairHoPe Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 1111 East Main St., Lancaster.
