Edward Gallenstein was a sign painter.


Joseph Lawrence Paulus

Joseph Paulus’ obituary was published in the Zanesville Signal on 17 Nov 1948:
WOODSFIELD - Joseph L. Paulus, 76, died at his home east of
Woodsfield Tuesday morning at four oclock following a lingering
illness. The body was taken to the Schumacher funeral home
and returned to the family home Tuesday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at nine o’clock
in St. Sylvester Catholic Church with Msgr. J. G. Mehler officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Paulus was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Reisbeck
Paulus. He spent his entire life in Center township and for 37
years taught in the public schools in this vicinity. He was also
a farmer.
In addition to his wife, Margaret Schumacher Paulus, he is
survived by two brothers and three sisters as follows: B. F.
Paulus and Mrs. Joseph Reischman of Woodsfield; Martin
Paulus, Miss Elizabeth Paulus, also of Woodsfield and Mrs.
Joseph Schumacher of Woodsfield, Route 5.


It is not known why the children of Joseph Paulus -- all of whom survived him -- are not mentioned in his obituary.

Margaret Mary Schumacher

Margaret Schumacher Paulus’ obituary was published in the Zanesville Signal on 13 Oct 1952:
WOODSFIELD - Mrs. Margaret Paulus, 77, widow of Joseph L. Paulus and a lifelong resident of Monroe county died in the family home on Route 4 at 11:30 Sunday morning after a one week illness.
She was born May 31, 1875, a daughter of Michael and Mary Gallagher Schumacher and was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Misses Hilda nad Mary Paulus of the home; a son, Francis of Route 4, two grandchildren, two sisters, Miss Martha Schumacher of Woodsfield and Mrs. Anna Glasser of Swissvale, Pa.
The body is at the Schumacher funeral home and will be taken this afternoon to the residence where friends may call.
Services are to be held at 9:30 Wednesday morning in St. Sylvester church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. G. Mehler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
