Charles Devore was a dentist. He was a resident of Woodsfield at the time of his death at age 47.

Edna Mallory Devore’s obituary was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 7 Jan 1954:
WOODSFIELD WOMAN DIES
WOODSFIELD, Jan 6 - Mrs. Edna Devore, widow of the late Dr. Charles Devore died suddenly in her home at 110 West Church street at 5:30 this afternoon, a short time after she had returned from a shopping errand.
Mrs. Devore complained of feeling ill to her daughter, Miss Maxine, of Washington D.C., who is visiting her and a neighbor, Mrs. Emma Bayes, then collapsed. She was pronounced dead when a doctor arrived.
She was a life resident of this community, a member of the Methodist church and its Dorcas class.
Surviving in addition to her daughter are a son, Winchell, of Mt. Lake Park, Md; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Sears of Akron, and a brother, Walter Mallory of Hartford, Conn.
The body was taken to the Schumacher funeral home where services are to be held at 2 pm. Saturday with Rev. Charles D. Reed in charge. Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery.


Charles Richner

Charles Richner’s obituary appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 3 Aug 1960:

NATIVE OF WOODSFIELD DIES ON VACATION TRIP
WOODSFIELD - Dr. Charles E. Richner, 55, of 1275 North Howard street, Akron, a native of this community, died suddenly Saturday after suffering a heart attack while vacationing in Canada with a brother-in-law, Dr. Milton Wolpert of Chester, W.Va.
Dr. Richner was born Oct 12 1904, a son of Everett E. and Millie Thornberry Richer. After graduating from high school in 1923 he attended Woodsfield Normal School. He taught in local schools for a short time, then attended Ohio University where he was affiliated with Theta Chi fraternity. He later graduated from dental college at Ohio State University where he was a member of the Psi Omega, honorary dental fraternity and began practice here in 1931.
In 1947 Dr. Richner moved to Cuyahoga Falls and began practicing in Akron.
He had joined the Masonic Blue Lodge here and at the time of his death was a member of Cuyahoga Falls Chapter No. 225, Cuyahoga Falls Council No. 144, Cuyahoga Falls Commandery No. 83 and Tendor Temple Shrine. He was also a member of the Akron Dental Association.
Surviving Dr. Richer are his widow, the former Elizabeth Sears of this community whom he married in 1929; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Wolpert of Chester, W. Va., and Mrs. Elsie Riley of Woodsfield.
Services are to be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Bellows Funeral Home at Akron and the body will be brought to the Bauer and Turner Funeral Home here where friends may call after 7 p.m. DST. Masonic rites are to be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday with services at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. John Benson will officiate and burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.


Floyd Oath Smith

Floyd O. Smith’s obituary was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 26 Nov 1964
DENTIST HERE FOR 34 YEARS DIES AT 61
Dr. Floyd Oath Smith, 61, Frazeyburg road dentist with offices at 2112 Maple avenue, died at 10 a.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan hospital after a seven-month illness. He had been hospitalized for one week.
Dr. Smith practiced here for 34 years.
He was born July 14, 1903 in Washington County, a son of Everett W. and Myrtle Griffin Smith.
After receiving his BA degree at Ohio State University, he graduated from the University of Louisville, Ky, with a degree in dental surgery.
Dr. Smith was a member of Forest Avenue Presbyterian Church of which he was an elder many years; Zanesville Country Club, past president of the Zanesville Dental Association, Zanesville Council 20 UCT, Lodge of Amity, No. 5 F&AM, Zanesville Council 10, RSM, Chapter 9 RAM, and Cyrene Commandery, Knights Templar.
Surviving are his widow, Rosemary, two sons, Robert H. of Marietta and Philip M. a student at Ohio State University, five sisters, Mrs. Clarence Christy of Braysville, Mrs. Floyd Spence of Lowell, Mrs. Dale Lucas of Alliance, Mrs. Harley Hilverding of Salem, W. Va., Mrs. Hobard McFadden of New Matamoras, a brother, Roy E. Smith of Belpre; his father of Graysville; two grandchildren, Robert F. and Mallory Leigh Smith of Marietta.
The body is at Blue Avenue Chapel of Bolin Funeral Home where friends may call after noon today until it is taken to the Forest Avenue Church at noon Saturday for services to be held at 1 p.m. Rev. James Hill will officiate and burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.
