Carl Wesley Geary, age 65, of Caldwell died Tuesday (10/21/2008) at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born 11/13/1942 near Hoskinsville, Ohio a son of the late George Wesley and Dorothy Opal Ralph Geary. He was a 1960 graduate of Belle Valley High School. Following high school he attended the Hope Sound Bible College from 1960 to 1962 and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served for 6 years including one year in Vietnam. He had received LPN training in Coshocton and had been a part of the pre-med program at the Ohio State University. Mr. Gear was formerly employed by the former Gould and Weather Seal Plants in Caldwell; Florida Power and Light, as well as working as a mail carrier for 11 years. He was employed as an LPN at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge; Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville and the Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Florida. He worked as an RN at the Monroe Regional Medical Center in Florida and for the Ohio Department of Corrections at the Orient and Noble Correctional Institutions, retiring in 2007 from the Correctional Medical Center in Columbus.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter Miriam Ruth Geary. Surviving are his wife Esther Belle Dye Geary, whom he married 06/13/1964; 3 daughters Deborah L. (Ben) Rhoads of Roseville, Janet S. (Loid) Boney of Caldwell and Elaine B. (Rusty) Walters of Caldwell; 2 sons Carl W. (Kathy) Geary, Jr. of Caldwell and Timothy Lee Geary of Florida; 2 brothers Ray (Virginia) Geary of Coshocton and Elton (Elaine) Walters of Byesville; 1 sister Wava Schafer of Caldwell; 18 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Saturday (10/25/2008) from 10 AM until 2 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street in Caldwell where funeral services will begin at 3 PM with the Rev. Steven Malone officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery with Military Honors. An online guestbook may be signed at www.mcvay-perkins.com.
