Donna Mae Arnold

The engagement announcement of Kenneth Crock and Donna Arnold appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 19 Apr 1952:
MISS ARNOLD TO WED MR. CROCK MAY 12
Mr. and Mrs. Beda Arnold of Caldwell, Route 4 announce the engagement of their daughter, Donna, to Kenneth L. Crock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sebastian Crock of Caldwell, Route 2.
The open church wedding will take place May 12 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fulda. Miss Arnold is a graduate of Southern Noble High School, while her fiancé is a graduate of Caldwell High School. Mr. Crock is employed by Crock and Schafer, Caldwell contractors.

From the Zanesville Signal, 20 Sep 1939:

Miss Edna Rose Warner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Warner
of Carlisle, and Edwin Snider of Caldwell will exchange nuptial vows in the St.
Michael's Catholic church with Rev. Fr. J. J. Donaldson officiating. Mr. Snider
is a son of Mrs. Alec Snider and is a well known local business man.

The following article appeared in the Zanesville Signal (page 17) on 28 Sep 1939:
CALDWELL - Miss Edna R. Warner and Edwin Snider, of Caldwell,
were united in marriage at the St. Michael’s Catholic church with the Rev. Fr.
J. J. Donaldson officiating.
The bride wore a floor length dress of white satin with a net veil.
She carried a bridal bouquet of white chrysanthemums. Miss Martha Warner,
sister of the bride, wore a pale blue taffeta gown with a gold tiara in her hair.
Raphael Gerst, of Fulda, was the best man.
A wedding dinner was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Warner, Carlisle, with fifty guests attending. A three tier white wedding cake
centered the bridal table.
In the evening they were honored with a dance at Cecelian hall, Carlisle.
The will make their home at Caldwell where Mr. Snider is a prominent business
man. He is the son of Mrs. Alec Snider.


James R. Merry

From the Zanesville Times Recorder, page 2-A, 18 Nov 1968:
James R. Merry, 69, of Caldwell Route 4 died of emphysema
at 11:35 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 16) in Good Samaritan hospital where he
had been a patient since Tuesday.
Born Dec 11, 1898, in Noble County, he was a son of John
and Cynthia Yonley Merry. A retired well tender, he worked for Ohio
Fuel Gas Co., 37 years.
Surviving are his widow, Mildred Nau Merry; five sons, James,
Jesse and William, all of Gallipolis, Richard of Beach City and Dale of
Navarre; five daughters, Mrs. Omar (Dorothy) Schott of Beach City,
Mrs. Myron (Cynthia) Law of Senecaville, Mrs. Carlos (Barbara) Tucker
of Sarahsville Route 1, Mrs. Ronald (Marilyn) Arnold of Caldwell Route
5, and Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Handschumacher of Caldwell; a brother, Ambrose
of Norwich; 41 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews.
The body was taken to Estadt Funeral Home in Caldwell where
friends may call. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today.
Requiem high mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Im-
maculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda. Burial will be in the church
cemetery.


Mildred Elizabeth Nau

In 1920, Mildred Nau (20) lived with her aunt and uncle Anthony and Eva (Gerst) Snider at their home at 219 Breaden St. in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. Mildred was employed in the repair department at Baum (?) Electric Company.

Mildred Nau Merry's obituary appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on Nov 2, 1976: CALDWELL-- Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Merry, 77, of
Caldwell Route 1, died at 12;10 a.m. Monday at Gurnsey
Memorial Hospital following a heart attack she suffered
a week ago. Mrs. Merry was born Aug 20, 1899 in Noble County. She was a life member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at
Fulda, a member of the Catholic Women's Club and of the
church choir. Her husband Jesse, died in 1968. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Omer (Dorothy)
Shott of Beach City, Mrs Carl (Ruth) Handschumacher of
Caldwell, Mrs. Myron (Cynthia) Law of Senecaville, Mrs.
Ronald (Marilyn) Arnold of Caldwell and Mrs. Carlos (Bar-
bara) Tucher of Sarahsville; five sons, James Richmond
of Bidwell, dale Edward of Navarre, Ambrose William of
Thurman, Jesse John of Gallipolis and Richard Francis
of beach City; a brother, Joseph Nau of Canton; four sisters,
Mrs. Clarence (Sylvania) Miller and Mrs. Edward (Sophia)
Schockling, both of Zanesville, Mrs. Clyde (Marie) Schell
of Chandlersville and Mrs. Frank (Cecilia) Ostrsoski of
Caldwell; 43 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and
three step-grandchildren. Friends may call at Estadt Funeral Home in Caldwell
until services. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday
at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fulda, with burial in Olive
Cemetery at Caldwell.
