Henry D. Hill

Henry was a blacksmith in Carlisle (also called Berne). Henry Hill lived in Berne, Noble Co., OH in 1939. Henry's tombstone indicates that he is buried with his second wife, Blanche.

After the death of his first wife, Mary, Henry's daughters were put into an orphanage. Henry's son, Howard was raised by his Warner grandparents. Howard never knew what became of his sisters.

At the time of the 1920 census, Henry Hill owned a mortgaged home in Carlisle Village, Stock Twp., Noble County, Ohio. The name of Henry's 47 year old wife is illegible... it looks like four letters begining with an H or N. Also living in the household were four children: Leo T. (10), Francis (9), Leona M. (7), and Clarence H. (3). The three oldest children attended school. Henry was a self-employed blacksmith.

In 1930, Henry D. Hill (59) and his wife, A. Blanche Hill owned a home in Stock Twp., Noble County, Ohio. They lived there with their three children, Francis L. (19), Leona M. (17), and Clarence H. (13). All of the children attended school. The census indicates that Henry was 25 years old at the time of his first marriage, and Blanche was 36. Henry owned a blacksmith shop.

HENRY D. HILL CALLED BY DEATH
SUMMERFIELD, O., Jan. 23 - Henry D. Hill, 84, of Berne died at a
Marietta nursing home yesterday following an illness of two months.
He was born in Noble county Sept 9, 1870, a son of Leonard and
Mary Michael Hill. He was a life long resident of the Berne community.
Mr. Hill was a retired blacksmith.
He was married in 1896 to Mary Warner, who died in 1903. He
later married Blanche Hood in 1908. His second wife died in 1952.
Surviving are one daughter, Miss Leona Hill of Marietta; four sons,
Howard of Canton, Leo of Columbus, Francis of Cleveland and Clar-
ence of the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; one brother, Andy
of Caldwell; and one sister, Mrs. Lillian Dimmerling of Caldwell; 10
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The body is at the Brubach funeral home here where it will remain
until services at 9:30 o’clock Tuesday morning at the St. Michael’s
Catholic church in Berne. Fr. Joseph Gardner will officiate. Burial will
be in the church cemetery.


Blanche A. Hood

According to the 1930 census, Blanche and her parents were born in Ohio.

Leo T. Hill

Leo Hill was living in Gehanna, OH in 1970.


Francis L. Hill

Francis Hill never married.


Leona Margaret Hill

Leona never married. She was the cook and housekeeper for Father Donaldson at St. Michael's in Carlisle and later at St. Mary's in Fulda.


Andrew Hill

In 1900, 26 year old farmer Andy Hill lived on a farm that he owned in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his 23 year old wife, Ferony and their daughter Lucy (3).

At the time of the 1920 census, Andy and Veronica Hill owned a farm in Enoch Township where they lived with Lucy (22), Julius (19), Hubert (14), Harley (12), Raymon (6), and Bernadine (2 yrs 1 mo.). None of the children were married. Julius, Hubert, and Harley attended school. All of the youths are identified as being Harley's children except Bernadine, who is identified as his grandchild.

Andy Hill of Fulda was a business caller in Caldwell Saturday.

In 1930, farmer Andy Hill (56) and his wife Verona (53) owned a farm worth in Enoch Township. Living with them were their children Hubert (24), Harley (22), Raymond (16), and Bernadine (12). Hubert was married, but his wafe was not living in the household. The family did not own a radio set. (No one on that page of the census did.)

In 1939, Andrew lived east of Caldwell, Noble Co., OH.


Veronica Dimmerling

Obituary:
Mrs. Veronica D. Hill, 91, of Caldwell, sister of a Zanesville
man, died at 1 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 2) at the Mark Rest Home in
McConnelsville after a short illness.
Mrs. Hill was born Aug. 24, 1876 in Noble County a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. August Dimmerling and was a lifelong resident of the
county. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Lepley of Flat Rock,
Mich., and Mrs. Bernadine Neimen of Lincoln Park, Mich.; three sons,
Julius of Buckeye Lake, Hubert of Caldwell Route 4 and Harley of the
home; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Leo
Dimmerling of Zanesville and Felix of Canton.
The body was taken to McVay Funeral Home in Caldwell where
friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Requiem Mass will be
sung at 9 a.m. Monday in St. Stephen’s Church with Rev. Stephen Pekella
as celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell.


Julius L. Hill

An article in the Zanesville Signal of Nov 17, 1925 listed Julius Hill, 24, of near Caldwell among those wounded on the first day of rabbit season.

The following article appeared in the Zanesville Signal on Dec 15, 1925:
Julius Hill has returned to Zanesville to resume his work
in the tube works after partially recovering from a gunshot
wound received while hunting on his father's farm near
Caldwell during the early part of the hunting season.

According to the online Ohio death certificate index, Julius Hill never married. He was a resident of Noble County at the time of his death.

Leo Hill

In 1900, 25 unmarried Leo Hill worked as a farm laborer and lived with his parents and two younger siblings on a farm in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio.

In 1920, Leo Hill (44) owned a farm in Enoch Twp. (Caldwell RFD 4), Noble County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife, Rosa K. (38), step-daughters Florentine (14) and Adelaide (11), and his parents Leonard (77) and Anna M. (74). Both Florentine and Adelaide attended school. Everyone in the household, including the girls, is enumerated under the surname "Hill." Leo's occupation was farmer, and the industry in which he worked was "pasture land." (Most of the other farmers on that page of the census worked in the industry of "general farming.") Adjacent households in the census were those of widows Mary (Dimmerling) Gerst and Kate (Miller) Schockling.

HILL RITES
Funeral services for Leo Hill, 64, Fulda community farmer were held from the St.
Mary's Catholic church Monday morning with the Rev. Fr. B. J. Mattes officiating.
Interment was made in the cemetery nearby.
Deceased passed away at his home following a year’s illness from cancer. He was
the son of Leonard and Mary Michael Hill. Surviving are his wife, Maude Rose Crock
Hill and two step-children. Florentine and Adaline of Columbus in addition to the
following brothers and sisters. Mrs. William Dimmerling of Caldwell, Louis, Henry
and Mrs. Caroline Crum of the Berne community and Andrew Hill of near Caldwell.
The aged farmer was a life long member of the St. Mary's Catholic church.

Another obituary appeared in the Caldwell Journal on March 2, 1939
Leo Hill, 64, well known farmer of Fulda Community, died at his home Friday morning
at 10 o’clock following a year’s illness from cancer. Deceased was born Dec 5, 1875, the
son of Leonard and Mary Michel Hill. He was born and lived his entire life on the same
farm, 2 miles northwest of Fulda. Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Surviving are
his wife, Rosa Crock Weisent Hill, and two step-children, Florentine and Adaline, of Col-
umbus, in addition to the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. William Dimmerling of
Caldwell, Henry, Louis, and Mrs. Caroline Crum of Berne, and Andrew Hill, east of
Caldwell. Funeral St Mary’s Catholic Church.

Rosa K. Crock

The following note appeared in The Caldwell Citizens Press on 2 Feb 1882:
Births -- January 28th to Jacob and Matilda Crock, a daughter.

In the 1940s, the children of neighbor Ignatz Schockling walked through Rose's property on their way home from school. The kids took turns getting the mail and bringing it to their neighbor, Rosie Hill. The child who delivered Mrs. Hill's mail got a treat such as candy, an apple, or a slice of orange Rose called a "snich" in German.


William Joseph Dimmerling

In 1900, 27 year old farmer William J. Dimmerling lived on a farm in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his 22 year old wife, Anna, and their two sons Clarence (3) and Roman (1). William's family was listed next to his father's in the census.

In 1930, W. J. Dimmerling (56) owned a farm in Stock Twp., Noble County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife, Anna M. (52) and son Francis (19). Unlike most of their neighbors, the Dimmerling family owned a radio set. Adjacent farms in the census were rented by Lawrence W. Kuhn and Henry A. Schwallie.

An article in the May 2, 1940 Zanesville Signal lists William J. Dimmerling as one of the contractors hired to spread stone on highways in Noble County.

Anna Maria Hill

Anna Hill Dimmerling lived in Caldwell, Noble Co., OH in 1939. She was still a resident of Noble County at the time of her death.


Charles E. Crum

In 1900, 23 year old Charles Crum lived and worked on the family farm in Stock Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his parents and younger siblings.

In 1910, 33 year old farmer Charles E. Crum lived with his wife of 6 years, Caroline A. (27), on a farm they owned in Stock Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Andrew F. (6) and Clarance L. (4). All members of the household were born in Ohio as were Charles' mother and Caroline's parents. Charles' father was born in Pennsylvania.

On 12 Sep 1918, 21 year old self-employed farmer Charles E. Crum of # 2 Summerfield, Ohio filled out a US military draft registration card. He gave his birthdate as 23 Sep 1877. His next of kin was Caroline Crum of the same address. Charles was described as being short and stout with dark eyes and brown hair.

In 1920, 43 year old farm C.E. Crum lived with his wife Caroline (37) on a farm they owned in Stock Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Andrew (15), Clarence. (14), Edwin (9), Edna (9), and Ralph (1 yr 8 mos) . All of the children except Ralph attended school.

In April, 1930, C. E. Crum (53) owned a farm in Stock Twp. where he lived with his wife Caroline A. (47) and children Edwin (19), Edna (19) and Ralph (11). Ralph attended school. The Crum family owned a radio set. Adjaent farms in the census belonged to Jacob Schott and John Schehl.

Charles E. Crum's obituary appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on August 26, 1930: CHARLES E. CRUM CALLED Funeral services for Charles E. Crum, aged 53, prominent
farmer of the Carlisle community, and a member of the Noble
county board of elections, were held from the St. Michale's
Catholic church, of which he was a devoted member on Mon-
day morning at 10 o'clock. Solemn requiem mass was read
by the pastor Rev. Tague and the funeral sermon was delivered
by Rev. C. C. Crock of Cambridge, formerly of Caldwell. burial
was made in the church cemetery at Carlisle. Mr. Crum's death
which occurred at the family home Saturday morning at 10:30
o'clock followed a two week illness of acute indigestion. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Caroline Hill Crum, five children:
Andrew, Clarence, Edna, Edwin, and Ralph, all of the home. The
following brothers and sisters also survive: Edward J. Crum, Pitts-
burg, PA.; Richard Crum, Lewisville; William Crum, Caldwell; Leo
and Lewis Crum of Carlisle; Mrs., A, J. Sheets, Youngstown; Mrs.
Leo Schell, Carlisle; Mrs. E. H. Michael, Caldwell


Carolina Anna Hill

From The Zanesville Times Recorder, 14 Jul 1938:
Mrs. Caroline Crum broke her leg at her fome here [Berne] Sunday when
a porch swing broke in which she was sitting. She was taken to Memorial
hospital in Marietta.

Obituary CAROLINE CRUM, 67, CALLED BY DEATH Mrs. Caroline Crum, 67, died Tuesday morning at her home in Berne. She
was the daughter of Leonard and Mary Hill and had spent all of her life in that
community. Surviving the deceased are five children, Andrew Crum of Canton, Clarence
Crum of Caldwell, Mrs. Emma Kasner of Louisville, Ralph Crum of Canton, and
Edwin Crum of the home; three brothers, Henry Nill (Hill) of Berne, Louis Hill of
Summerfield, and Andy Hill of Caldwell, and one sister Mrs. William Zimmerling
(Dimmerling) of Caldwell. Her husband, Charles Crum died in 1930. Three child-
ren, two brothers and one sister are deceased. The body is at the Brubach funeral home in Summerfield and will be returned
to the family residence Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted from the St. Michael Catholic church in Berne
Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock. burial will be in the church cemetery. The casket
will not be opened at the church.

Henry Michel

In 1900, 30 year old farmer Henry Michel lived on a farm that he owned in Stock Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his 29 year old wife Sophia and their three children, Carl (4), Julitta (3), and Francis (1). Also living in the household were a house servant, Mary Hupp (14), and a German-born boarder, dressmaker Emma Dosch (32). Henry and his mother were born in Ohio; his father was born in West Virginia. Everyone but the children could read and write English. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to James Archer and William Wickham.

At the time of the 1920 census, Henry Michel (50) owned a farm on Harrisburg Rd. in Marlboro Twp., Stark County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife Sophia (49) and children Francis (21), Frieda (19), Theodore (15) and Esther (9). The two youngest girls attended school. The Michel farm was located next to that of Edward Warner (another Fulda native) in the census.

In 1930, Henry Michel (60) owned a home worth $10000 at 1487 East Main St. in Nimishillem Twp., Stark County. Other members of the household were his wife Sophia (59), widowed son Francis A. (31), unmarried daughter Esther m. (19) and Sophia's unmarried sister, Rosina (69). All were natives of Ohio. According to the census, Henry's tather and mother were natives of West Virginia and Ohio, respectively. Sopha and Rosina's parents were from Wurtemburg, Germany. Henry was employed as a cold roll worker in a steel mill.


Obituary:
HENRY MICHEL
At the age of 94, Mr. Michel of 903 East Main st died Sunday [17 Nov 1963]
after a year of illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leroy Frank. He had been
a farmer and an employe of Superior Steel.
Survivors in addition to Mrs. Frank are 2 daughters, Mrs. Raymond Paquelet of
Louisville and Mrs. Esther Klinger of Canton; a son, Carl of Louisville; two sisters,
Mrs. Mary Crock of Zanesville, and Mrs. Rose Crock of Fulda, Ohio. Also a brother,
Edward of Caldwell, O.; 27 grandchildren and 107 great-grandchildren.
Requiem Mass was Tuesday in St. Louis Catholic Church and interment in charge
of the Paquelet Funeral Home was in Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery in Harrisburg.


Sophia E. Smith

According to the 1900 census, all three of the children that Sophia Smith Michel had given birth to were still living at the time of the census. Sophia could read and write English. She was born in Ohio to German-born parents.

Her sister Rosina Smith (age 50) lived with Henry and Sophia Smith Michel at the time of the 1910 Census.

Obituary:
MRS. HENRY MICHEL
After an extended illness Mrs. Michel of 1333 East Main St.,
passed away in Mercy Hospital last Wednesday night. She had resided
in this vicinity 45 years.
Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Carl, of Louis-
ville; three daughters, Mrs. Esther Klingler of Canton and Mrs. Julitta
Frank and Mrs. Frieda Paquelet of Louisville; 26 grandchildren and 48
great-grandchildren.
Requiem High Mass was sung Saturday morning at St. Louis
Catholic Church and burial was in Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery at
Harrisburg. St. Ann’s Altar and Rosary Society held services Friday
evening at the Paquelet Funeral Home.


Theodore Henry Michel

Obituary:
Theodore Michel, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Michel, died Friday night at the age of sixteen years.
About two weeks previous to his death he had an operation
performed for appendicitis and later pneumonia developed
which was the cause of his death. Every effort was made to
spare his life, but Theodore’s journey on earth was ended
and he was called away. He was a bright active boy and the
members of his family are grief stricken over their loss.
Besides his parents two sisters and two brothers survive.
They are Mrs. LeRoy Frank and Carl Michel of Alliance; Miss
Freeda and Francis Michel, at home.
The Michel family moved to their present location near
Harrisburg from Monroe county, Ohio a number of years ago
and they have the sympathy of the community in their sorrow.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church at Harris-
burg Monday morning and were conducted by the pastor, Rev.
Father McKinney. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Leonard John Michel

In 1900, 28 year old farmer Leonard J. Michel lived on a farm that he owned in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his 25 year old wife Eva and three children: Cora (5), Harry (2), and Ella (8 months).

In 1910, 38 year old farmer Leonard J. Michel lived on a farm that he owned in Noble County, Ohio with his 36 year old wife of 16 years, Eva, and their children Cora (14), Harry (12), Ella (10), Roy (7), and Beda (5). All members of the household as well as Leonard's mother and Eva's parents were born in Ohio. According to the census, Leonard's father was born in Virginia. Cora, Harry, and Ella attended school.

At the time of the 1920 census, 47 year old farmer Lenord J. Michel lived on a farm that he owned in Noble County, Ohio with his 45 year old wife Eve and their children Cora (24), Harry (22), Roy (16), Beda (14), and Hilda (8). All members of the household as well as Leonard and Eva's parents were born in Ohio. Beda and Hilda attended school.

In 1930, 58 year old farmer Lenard J. Michael still lived on a farm that he owned (value $2000) in Enoch Twp. with his 55 year old wife Eva and their son Beda (25) and daughter Hilda (19). All members of the household as well as Leonard and Eva's parents were born in Ohio. Beda's occupation is listed as farm laborer. The family owned a radio.

Leonard Michel (maternal great-grandfather) - Leonard was born in Fulda, Ohio, in 1871. He died in November 1950. He was a hard worker all his life, and had money when he died because he didn't believe in spending it.


Carolina Eva Dimmerling

In 1900, three of Eva Dimmerling Michel's four children were still living. (Firstborn Roman died shortly after birth in 1894.) Eva and her parents were born in Ohio.

Eve (Dimmerling) Michel (maternal great-grandmother) - Eve was born
in Fulda, Ohio, in 1875. She died in August 1960. Eve was the boss and
ruled over everything, including the farm and the house.

Obituary:
CALDWELL - Mrs. Eva Michel, 85, a lifelong resident of Fulda,
died Tuesday at the home of a daughter in Canton. She was the daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Dimmerling. Her husband, Leonard, died
ten years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church at Fulda.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Hilda Schockling of Canton,
Mrs. Ella Weisent of Dexter City, and Mrs. Schindler of Canton; three
sons, Roy of Canton, Beda of Louisville, and Harry of Magnolia; four
sisters, Mrs. Marian Crum, Mrs. Elizabeth Michel, and Mrs. Frona Hill,
all of Caldwell and Mrs. Sebastian Huffman of Detroit, Mich.; three
brothers, Felix Dimmerling of Louisville, Leo Dimmerling of Berne, and
Alex Dimmerling of Caldwell; 33 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren.
The body will be brought to the Estadt Funeral Home at Cald-
well at noon Thursday by the Paquelet Funeral Home of Louisville.
Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home in Caldwell.
The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Estadt Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary's Catholic
church at Fulda. The Rev. Father J. J. Donaldson will officiate and interment
will follow in the church cemetery.

Alexander Christopher Michel

In 1900, newlyweds Alexander (26) and Rachel (25) Michel rented part of a house on Hawkins Ave. in North Braddock, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Also living with them was a boarder, fellow Fulda native Henry Schell (28). The owners of the house were Frank J. Miller, also from Fulda, and his wife Mary (Schaad) Miller. (The Millers occupied another part of the house.) The occupation of all three men in the house was "labor."

In 1920, 46 year old Alexander and Rachel Michel (45) lived with their five children in a home that they owned at 2223 Woodstock Ave., Swissvale (Allegheny Co.) PA. The three oldest children -- Andrew (11), Clyde (9), and Marie (7) -- attended school, while the younger two -- Walter (5) and Esther (2) -- stayed home with Rachel. Alexander was a machinist in a factory.

Living in Pennsylvania in 1933, according to the obituary of his sister-in-law, Margaret Yeagle Schott.

Alex Michel Taken by Death After Illness From Cancer
CALDWELL O., -- July 31 -- funeral services for Alex Michel,
63, former well known resident of the Caldwell vicinity will be
held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, from the Catholic church
at Swissvale.
Death occurred Wednesday in the family home following an
illness of cancer due to an infected tooth which was extracted a
year ago. The deceased was the son of the late John and Eva
Hill Michel of near Caldwell and resided in Noble county until
30 years ago.
Surviving are his widow, Rachel Yeagle Michel and the follow-
ing children: Andrew, of Washington, D. C.; Clyde, Pittsburgh, Pa.;
Marie, Regis and Walter of the home, and the following brothers
and sisters: Leonard and E. H. Michel, Caldwell; Henry Michel,
Louisville, Stark county; Mrs. John A. Miller, near Caldwell; Mrs.
E. H. Crock, Fulda; Mrs. Simon Crock, Zanesville; and one grand-
child.
In addition to the brothers and sisters of this vicinity, Mrs. Eliza-
beth Michel, a sister-in-law, will attend last rites at Swissvale,
Saturday.

Mrs. Louis Ritterbeck and son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William
Ritterbeck, and their daughter Bernadine, were summoned to Pittsburgh Wednesday
by the serious illness of the former's sister, Mrs. Rachel Michaels. They were
accompanied by Wayne McAuley and Mrs. Oscar Brubach, who visited the latter's
sister, Mrs. James Donovan.

(Rachel Yeagle Michel and Mary Ann Yeagle Ritterbeck were sisters.)


Henry L. Hupp

In 1900, 31 year old Henry L. Hupp lived on his mother's farm with his wife Tilda (22) and their sons Otto (2) and Clarence (1). Also living with them was Henry's cousin 12 year old Gilbert Miller. ("Gilbert" might be Albert Miller, son of Elizabeth Miller Hupp's brother Leonard Miller.)

FULDA RESIDENT CALLED
Henry Hupp, 82, well know resident of Enoch township,
died Wednesday at his home near Fulda from dropsy.
Several children and grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were conducted at 9 o'clock this morning
at Fulda Catholic church by Rev. Father Mattes and burial
made in the church cemetery by Brubach & Dearth, funeral
directors of this place in charge.

DEATH OF HENRY HUPP
Henry Hupp, aged 82, well known farmer, passed away at his
home near Fulda, Wednesday morning at *:45 o'clock, death
being due to an illness of dropsy.
The deceased was a member of the Fulda Catholic church.
His wife who was Matilda Michael died several years ago.
Surviving are the following children four sons and one daugh-
ter Marie Hupp of the home, Otto, Clarence and Joe Hupp of
Zanesville, Oscar Hupp of the home. Mr. Hupp was the last
member of his family.
Funeral services were held from the Church of the Immaculate
conception at Fulda, Saturday morning, at 9 o'clock and burial
was made in the church cemetery.

The archaic medical term "dropsy" means edema, or swelling; often due to heart failure or kidney disease.

Oscar H. Hupp

Oscar Hupp's obituary appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on November 15, 1973.
Oscar Henry Hupp, 71, of 1014 Fairground street, Caldwell died at 10:15 a.m. Friday at Summit Acres Nursing home here.
Born May 22, 1902 in Enoch Township of Noble County, he was a son of Henry and Mildred Michael Hupp. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include a brother, Clarence Hupp of Zanesville; and a sister, Mrs. Marie Estadt of Caldwell. Two brothers are deceased.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Fulda. Rev. Fr. Walter E. Heinz will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at Estadt Funeral Home in Caldwell.


Joseph Michel

In 1900, 21 year old Joseph Michel lived with his widowed father and younger siblings.

At the time of the 1910 census, 31 year odl Joseph Michel and his wife Lizzie (27) owned a farm in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio, where they lived with their children Francis L. (5), Willie (4), and Hilma M. (1 yr 3 mos). A fourth child died prior to 1910, according to the census. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to Ignatz Miller and George Schoeppner.

Joe Michel's farm was previously owned by John Gerst, son of John and Katherine Heil Gerst.

Elizabeth Dimmerling

In 1900, 17 year old unmarried Elizabeth Dimmerling lived and worked on her parents' farm in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio. (It was unusual for a wmnan to be listed in the census with an occupation of "farm laborer.")
