In 1900, Lewis Crock (23, DOB Mar 1877) lived and worked on a farm owned by Walter Mackey in Springdale, Cedar Co., Iowa. Lewis as well as his parents was born in Ohio. (Although it has not been verified that this is Louis Crock the son of Joseph and Mary Schott Crock several things point to this being the case. This Lewis was born in Ohio; working on a nearby farm in Springdale was his cousin, Henry Crock; and working on a farm in nearby Red Oak Twp, Cedar Co., Iowa was another cousin, William Crock (William James Crock?). Both Henry and William were also born in Ohio.).

On September 12, 1918, Louis Peter Crock (43 - date of birth March 1, 1875) registered for the military draft. His physical description is given as medium height, medium build, gray eyes and brown hair.

All members of the household were born in Ohio, Louise's' father as well as both of Catherine's parents were born in Germany. Lawrence attended school the younger children did not. Living on the next farm was John Alexander Noll whose daughter Freda M. later married to Louis' nephew Sebastian Edward Crock.

Nick Crock of Mechanisville, Iowa, spent the week-end with
their brother, Lewis Crock and family.

Sources conflict on date of death: 1948, 1958 (both Tipton-- different documents) vs. 9 Aug 1950 (death certificate, Pegnato). At the time of the 1850 census, 51 year old farmer John Warner lived in Enoch Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with his wife Margaret (41) and children Caroline (13), Margaret (11), Adam (8), Elizabeth (6), John (4), Mary (2), and Anthony (2 months). In 1880, retired farmer John (80) and Margaret (69) Warner lived in the Village of Fulda, Noble County, Ohio with a 15 year old servant named Mary Ann (last name illegible). According to the census, John was born in Hesse, and Margaret was born in West Virginia. Adjacent housholds belonged to schoolteacher Morris Alderhoven and grocer John Arnold.

The following report appeared in The Caldwell Citizens' Press on 19 Jan 1882:
Old Mr. Wehner [Warner] and John Hall are both in a dying condition,
we may expect their death at almost any hour.
