Paul A. Henne

In 1930, Paul A. Henne (32) rented a home for $25 a month at 533 High St. in Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio with his wife Nellie M. (33), and children Paul J. (7), and Laura J. (3 yrs 5 mos.). Paul was employed as a "com. salesman" at a tire factory. Both of Paul's parents were born in Ohio. Like almost all of their neighbors, the Henne family did not own a radio set.


Lucy B. Hill

Social Security number issued in Michigan in 1963. Living in Flat Rock, Michigan in 1967.


Hubert Hill

At the time of the 1930 census (which was taken on April 15 of that year), 24 year old Hubert lived with his parents and younger siblings on the family farm in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio. Hubert is listed as being married, but his wife is not enumerated in the household. He was first married at age 22, according to the census.


Grace S. Davis

According to the 1930 census, 28 year old Grace S. Hill lived with her parents Alonzo and Mary E. Hill and her siblings in Olive Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. Also living with her was her daughter, Norma J. (1 yrs 5 mos). The census indicates that Grace was married although her husband (Hubert Hill) was not living with her.

Grace's death certificate states that she was a teacher.


Marilyn Hill

Obituary, Zanesville Signal April 2, 1943
CALDWELL--Marilyn Hill, nine month old twin
daughter of Hubert Hill and Grace Davis Hill, of
near Caldwell, died Thursday in the McVay-Schilling
ambulance while on her way to the Good Samaritan
hospital, Zanesville. The child had been ill for the
past week. Her twin sister, Carolyn, died December
15, 1942.
In addition to the parents, two sisters, Norma
Jean and Ruth and two brothers, Richard and Robert
of the home survive, and the grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Hill and Alonzo Davis, all of Caldwell,
Rt 1.
Funeral services will be held from the home Sunday
afternoon at 2 o'clock EST, with Rev. Virgil C. Jump of
Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Archer's Ridge
Cemetery, with the McVay Schilling funeral home in
charge.


Carolyn Sue Hill

Coryza was listed as a contributory cause of importance, not related to the principal cause of Carolyn Hill's death. Coryza refers to symptoms of a head cold.


Bernadine G. Hill

In the 1920 census, Bernadine Hill was listed as a grandchild of Andy Hill. In the 1930 census, she is identified as his daughter. Bernadine was living in Lincoln Park, Michigan in 1967.

Clemence J. Weisent

In 1910, 30 year old Clement J. Weisent owned a home at 336 Sharon Ave. in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio with his wife of 8 years, Rosie C. (28) and their daughters, Florentine M. (5) and Adelaide C. (1). The census indicates that another child died prior to 1910. Clem worked as a grocer.


Rosa K. Crock

The following note appeared in The Caldwell Citizens Press on 2 Feb 1882:
Births -- January 28th to Jacob and Matilda Crock, a daughter.

In the 1940s, the children of neighbor Ignatz Schockling walked through Rose's property on their way home from school. The kids took turns getting the mail and bringing it to their neighbor, Rosie Hill. The child who delivered Mrs. Hill's mail got a treat such as candy, an apple, or a slice of orange Rose called a "snich" in German.


Carl F. Ritterbeck

Carl had a unique sense of humor. As a young man in school, he was once asked when the proper time to plant corn was. His reply was, "When other people do."

Carl and Freda raised their family on the farm at the bottom of Fox Hill that had once belonged to Carl's parents.

Obituary:
Carl F. Ritterbeck, 60, of Caldwell Route 1, a farmer, died at 6 p.m. Sunday Dec
5 [1965] in Marietta Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack
Saturday at his home. Mr. Ritterbeck was born in Noble County Jan. 24, 1909,
a son of Frank and Elizabeth Block Ritterbeck. Mr. Ritterbeck was a member of
St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Fulda.
Surviving are his widow, Freda; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Agnes Weisend of
Summerfield Route 1, Mrs. Rita Ann Swick of Canton, and Mrs. Theresa Ann Matheny
of Caldwell; three sons, Harold and Howard of the home and Herman Ritterbeck of
Columbus; and six grandchildren.
Mass will be sung at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Fulda.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Brubach Funeral Home
here from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Rosary will be
recited at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.


Freda M. Hill

Obituary:
Freda M. Ritterbeck, 91
CALDWELL - Freda M. Ritterbeck, 91, of Caldwell, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 3,
2001, at her home.
Surviving are two daugh­ters, Rita Zwick of Canton and Theresa Matheney of Belle
Valley; three sons, Harold of Caldwell, Herman of Granville and Howard. Ritterbeck of
Bolivar; one brother, Bernard Hill of Summerfield; 13 grandchil­dren; 22 great-grandchildren;
three step great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home,
Caldwell. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at
St. Mary’s Catholic Church.


Francis Carl Ritterbeck

Under "Cause of Death" on Francis Ritterbeck's death certoficate, physician Charles Thompson wrote "Unknown, never saw the baby when ill. Died suddenly."


Francis M. Ritterbeck

On 10 Jan 1895, the Caldwell Ohio newspaper reported:
Alex & August Gerst, Frank Ritterbeck and Herman Fox spent the holidays in Wheeling.

In 1900, 38 year old unmarried Frank Redrbeck lived and worked on his parents' farm with his youngest sister, Mary. Frank could speak and read English, but couldn't write.

Elizabeth Blake

Researcher Roger Schockling remembers Lizzie as a tall thin lady. She lived her later years in what eventually became the Bert Blackstone house at the bottom of Raab Hill.

Death certificate informant was her son, Carl Ritterbeck.


Joseph P. Burkhart

In 1920, Joseph P. Burkhart (33) and his wife Louisa (28) owned a farm in Summit Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with their children Nona M. (6), Malvin W. (4 yrs 7 mos) and Raphel J. (2 yrs 10 mos). Adjacent households in the census belonged to Joseph's widowed sister-in-law, Eugenia (Dick) Burkhart, and his father, Wendle Burkhart.

The cause of death (beyond "exhaustion following... :) is illegible on Joseph's death certificate. He had his gall bladder removed prior to his death.


Louisa Mary Carpenter

After the death of her first husband, Joseph Burkhart, Louisa married his older brother Wendle. Louisa's Social Security number was issued in Indiana in 1966
