Robert H. Lori

Robert H. Lori, age 82, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Monday, January 19, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born December 29, 1926, in Noble County, Ohio, son of the late Lewis and Anna Lorey Lori. He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran, having served in the Philippines, and he was retired as a rail layer from the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley, and a member of the Belle Valley Post # 641 American Legion, where he formerly served as sergeant-at-arms and district sergeant-at-arms. He was also a life member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Ward Lori; his second wife, Mildred Hesson Lori; one son, Robert J. Lori; three sisters, Pearl Wheeler, Annabelle Clark, and Marie Gornel; two brothers, Earl and Jim Lori; and one great-granddaughter.

Surviving are three daughters, Jean (Pete) Smith of Belle Valley, Heleanna (Cliff) Smith of Gainesville, Florida, and Marguerite Boney of Summerfield; one brother, Paul Edward (Reva) Lori of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, January 23, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell where a Christian Scripture Service will follow at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Saturday, January 24th at 10AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. A military graveside service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell conducted by the Noble County Veteran Services Organization. CALDWELL -- Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed 10 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Belle Valley, for Robert H. Lori, 82, of Belle Valley, who died Monday (Jan. 19, 2009) at Select Specialty Hospital in Zanesville.
The Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris will serve as celebrant. A military graveside service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Caldwell, conducted by the Noble County Veteran Services Organization.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a Christian Scripture service will follow at 8 p.m.

Home in Caldwell, Ohio. He was born 7/22/1948 at
Zanesville, Ohio a son of Robert H. Lori of Belle Valley,
Ohio and the late F. Jean Ward Lori who died 4/1/1978.
Robert was a 1966 graduate of Shenandoah High School
at Sarahsville, Ohio and was a retired dispatcher for the
Noble County Sheriff's Department. He was a member
of the Sons of the American Legion and Corpus Christi
Catholic Church in Belle Valley, Ohio. He loved fishing,
jigsaw puzzles and visiting with family and friends. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by his
step-mother Mildred C. Hesson Lori who died 12/15/1990. In addition to his father he is survived by 3 sisters Jean
(Pete) Smith of Belle Valley, Ohio, Heleanna (A.C.) Smith
of Cambridge, Ohio and Marguerite (Donnie) Boney of
Caldwell, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday (6/29/2005) from 2 to 4 and

The following appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on July 24, 1933: SMALL SON INJURED Master Paul Noll, 3, son of Mr and Mrs Perry Noll, Fulda
sustained painful injuries when he fell from the car driven by
his father when the door flew open. The child was brought to
the office of Dr. E. G. ditch where first aid was given.

In 1930, Walter Dimmerling (22) lived with the family of his second cousin, Otmer Shell (32) in their rented home at 2114 Navarre Road in Canton, Ohio. Walter worked as a welder in an oil factory.

Walter Dimmerling was the proprietor of the City Restaurant in Caldwell, Ohio.

Twenty-two year old Edna Noll was not enumerated with her parents and siblings in the 1930 census.

BERNE, O., July 24 -- Misses Edna and Laura Noll were visiting friends in
Zanesville Monday and Tuesday.


The following wedding announcement appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on April 29, 1937: MISS NOLL WEDS W. G. DIMMERLING Carlisle Church Is Scene of Nuptial Mass Caldwell, O. April 29 -- Miss Edna Mary Noll and Walter G. Dimmerling
were united in marriage Tuesday morning at St. Michael's Catholic church
in Carlisle. Rev. James Donaldson officiated at the ceremony and the
solemn nuptial high mass which followed. Rev. Father Mehler, Woodsfield, and Rev. father Crock, Cambridge, were
the deacon and sub-deacon. Other priests in the sanctuary were Rev. Father
Finan, Burkhart, Rev. Father Tague, Corning, Rev. Father Campbelle, Cald-
well and Rev. Father Pritchard, Lowell. Miss Laura Noll, sister of the bride, and Raymond Crum were the
attendants. The bride wore an ankle length gown of white satin with overlace and
carried an arm bouquet of Tallsman roses. Her bridesmaid selected a
peach chiffon gown and carried yellow roses. The Misses Melba and Lola Schell played Mendelsohn's Wedding
March and "O Promise Me" followed by Leonard's mass in E flat. Mrs.
Harry Miller, Harriettsville, sang Schubert's "Ave Marie" as the offertory. Following the ceremony, a reception was given at the home of the
bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Dimmerling, Elk Fork. Sixty-
four guests were present. The couple will live in Cambridge, Terrance Heights, where Mr.
Dimmerling will be manager of the Terrace Heights Grill room.

Elmer J. Burkhart's obituary appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on March 7, 1971. Elmer J. Burkhart, 61, a farmer of Lewisville Route 2, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Medical Center where he had been a patient since Feb. 19. Mr. Burkhart was born in Monroe County, March 10, 1909, a son of Philip and Anna Kuhn Burkhart. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his widow, Veronica Noll Burkhart; a daughter, Mrs. Judy Gallagher of Junction City Route 1; six sons, James of New Lexington Route 1, Glen of Norwich Route 1, Ellis of 923 Chester street, Francis of Lewsville Route 2, Dale of Columbus and Mark of 624 Wabash avenue; a sister, Sister Mary Leo of Pittsburgh and ten grandchildren. The body was taken to the Brubach Funeral Home at Summerfield where friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic church at Burkhart with Fr. Joseph Finan officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill cemetery near the church.


Veronica Amelia Noll

Burkhart for Elmer Burkhart son of Mr and Mrs Philip Burkhart of Lewisville
route 4 and Miss Veronica Noll, Harrietsville. The wedding will be an event of
the near future.

Veronica A. Burkhart, 85, of Lewisville, died Sunday, Dec 3, 1995, at Fairfield Medical
Center, Lancaster. She was born Sept 20 1910, near Harriettsville, daughter of the late Alex
and Eva Zwick Noll. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, near Lewisville,
where she was also a member of the Catholic Women's Club. Mrs. Burkhart was preceded
in death by her husband, Elmer Burkhart, on March 6, 1971; a brother Clarence Noll; two
sisters, Laura Polk and Freda Crock; and a great grandson, Adam Carney.
She leaves a daughter, Judy Gallagher of Junction City; six sons, James Burkhart of New
Lexington, Glen Burkhart of Norwich, Ellis Burkhart and Mark Burkhart both of Zanesville,
Dale Burkhart of Circleville, and Francis Burkhart of Lewisville; three sisters, Clara Crock and
Pearl Estadt, both of Caldwell, and Edna Dimmerling of Zanesville; a brother, Ernest Noll of
Zanesville; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Friends were received Tuesday at Brubach-Watters Funeral Home with vigil services at 8
p.m. Liturgy and mass are being held at 11 a.m. today, Dec 6, at St.Joseph Catholic Church,
near Lewisville. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Father Sullivan officiating at the ceremony. Following the nuptial rites, a dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents. The couple were guests of honor at a dance given in the evening.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Noll, Harrietsville. She wore white with matching accessories. The bridegroom is from near Fulda. Miss Alma Crock, sister of the groom, was the bridesmaid, while Wilfred, son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Miller, was best man.
The newlyweds will reside on a farm near Carlisle.

CALDWELL -Clara M. Crock, 89, of 44565 Township Road
497, Caldwell, died Jan. 11, 2006, at Summit Acres Nursing
Home in Caldwell. Born Jan. 26, 1916, in Noble County, she
was the daughter of Alex and Eva Zwick Noll. Mrs. Crock was
a housewife and a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church
in Caldwell, where she was also a member of the women's
club.
Survivors include three daughters, Joanne Saling of Cald-
well, Jean Farson of Urlanger, Ky., and Donna Boice of St.
Marys, W.Va.; three sons, Vernon Crock of Cambridge, Cletus
Crock of Reno, Ohio, and Ray Crock of Dexter City; 21 grand-
children; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Estadt of
Reynoldsburg; a brother, Ernest Noll of Zanesville; and
several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her husband, Linus Crock, whom
she married May 8, 1934, and who passed away in 1982; a
son, Lester "Sonny" Crock; a great-grandson, Jason; a brother,
Clarence Noll; and four sisters, Edna Demmerling, Frona Burk-
hart, Freda Crock and Laura Polk.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13,
at Murphy-McCurdy Funeral Home, where a scripture service
will take place at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Sat-
urday, Jan. 14, 2006, at St. Stephens Catholic Church with
Father Dale Tornes as celebrant. Burial will take place in Fulda
Cemetery.

OBITUARY:
Carl C. Polk, 77, of Zanesville, died at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday,
Jan. 10, 1995, at Bethesda Hospital. Born April 14, 1917, in Zanesville, Mr. Polk served as a Falls
Township Trustee for many years. He was a member of the St.
Mary's Catholic Church at Mattinglys settlement, an Army veteran
of World War II and 51-year member of Richvale Grange. Mr. Polk
was a member of the Muskingum County Republican Club where
he served as central committeeman, served on the Board of
Elections and was a member of the Republican Policy Committee. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Smith of Chicago, Ill., and Rose
Ann Cochran of Columbus; two brothers, Joseph J. Polk and Fred
C. Polk, both of Zanesville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Polk was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Helen
Agnes Olenczuk Polk; and his wife, Laura Eva Polk, who died Dec.
25, 1992. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 12, 1995, at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave.
Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday,
Jan. 13, 1995, at St. Mary"s Catholic Church at Mattinglys Settlement,
with Msgr. Francis J. Smith, nephew of the deceased from El Paso,
Texas, officiating assisted by Father Frank Miller. Burial will be in
Mount Olive Cemetery.

Obituary:
Laura E. Polk, 74, of 4650 Barkers Run Road, Zanesville, died Friday December 25,
1992 in Bethesda Hospital after a short illness. She was born February 6, 1918 in
Jefferson Township, Noble County, the daughter of the late Alex and Eva Zwick Noll.
Mrs. Polk spent most of her life in the Zanesville area. She was a member of St. Mary’s
Catholic Church at Mattinglys Settlement, near Zanesville; a member of the Daughters of
Isabella; Richvale Grange and Pomona Grange.
Survivors include her husband, Carl C. Polk, who she married on October 12, 1938; four
sisters, Mrs. Edna Dimmerling, Mrs. Clara Crock and Mrs. Pearl Estadt, all of Caldwell,
and Mrs. Veronica Burkhart of Lewisville; one brother, Ernest F. Noll of Zanesville; and
several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were one sister, Freda Crock, and one
brother, Clarence Noll.
Friends were received at the Bolin Funeral Home, Zanesville, on Sunday and Monday
from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December
29, 1992 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Mattinglys Settlement with Fr. Frank Miller as
celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.
