Jane Catherine Michel

Wedding announcement from the Louisville Herald, page 1, 9 Aug 1945:
MICHEL - CUENOT
Bore an altar of ferns and gladioli at Sacred Heart of Mary
Church in Harrisburg, August 1, Miss Jane Michel, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Carl Michel, and Pfc. Francis Cuenot, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Cuenot, were united in marriage by Rev. Fr. Ernest J. Smith,
using the double ring ceremony.
The bride was beautiful in her gown of white tulle with a
long train. Her fingertip veil was beaded with orange blossoms, and
she wore a strand of pearls, a gift from the bridegroom, and carried a
spray of white roses. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Miss Mary Alice Corbett of Canton, her maid of honor,
wore an ice blue gown of satin and net with head dress to match and
carried a spray of yellow roses. Her four bridesmaids were Miss Ileen
Ruflin of Maximo, Doris Samblanet, Marcella Frank and Agnes Frank,
all of Louisville, all wore pastel shades and carried red roses. The
miniature bride and groom were little Miss Jonita Chenevey and Mark
Michel, brother of the bride, dressed identically as the bride and groom.
Mr. Virgil Michel, TM@/c <mailto:TM@/c>, brother of the bride, was
best man. The mothers were dressed in black and wore corsages of red
roses.
Ushers were Paul Hoover, cousin of the groom, and Mr. Rich-
ard Michel, brother of the bride.
Nuptial music was furnished by Misses Rita Mae Haidet and
Edna Frank with Miss Ileen Haidet at the organ.
A wedding dinner for the wedding party and immediate families
was served at the home of the bride’s parents. A reception was held
during the afternoon and evening, after which the happy couple left for
a short honeymoon trip.
Pfc. Cuenot will report at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, August
26, and the bride will resume her duties on Monday as cashier at the IGA
Super Market in Louisville. Both the bride and groom are popular young
people and the Herald joins their many friends in wishing them many
years of happiness.


Gene Louis Cuenot Sr.

Obituary (edited at the request of family members):
Gene L. Cuenot, Sr., age 61 of 1317 Edmar St. Louisville, passed away early Monday morning Dec. 14 [1987]. Born in Louisville on Nov. 21, 1926 to the late Frank and Lillie Zwick Cuenot, he had retired from the Ford Motor Co., Canton Forge Plant in 1985 after 35 years. He was a staff Sgt. In WWII, a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville. He and his wife Mary A. Liermann Cuenot were married Sept. 1, 1951. He was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Cuenot in 1981.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, 3 daughters, Michele Churchill of Canton, Mrs. Jack (Marie) Ripple of Louisville and Miss Bernadette (Bernie) Cuenot of the home; 3 sons, ... Matthew D. Cuenot of Concord California, and Mark J. Cuenot of East Palestine; 1 sister, Mrs. Paul (Marlene) Dalheimer of Louisville; 2 brothers, Basil Cuenot of Canton and Gabriel Cuenot of Massillon; 5 grandchildren, .... Jason, Jeremiah, and Jennifer Ripple.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 17, in St. Lois Catholic Church of Louisville. Friends called Wednesday in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home of Louisville where wake services were held between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Wed. Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the development program at St. Louis Catholic Church.


Carl John Michel

Carl J. Michel fought in World War I (8/8/1918 to 2/8/1919). Deatils of his military record are:

In 1930, 34 year old Carl "Michael " owned a farm in Marlboro Twp., Stark Co., Ohio where he lived iwth his wife Lillian (30) and their seven children: Theodore (9), Virgil (8), Bernard (7), Jane (6), Richard (5), Norbert (3 yrs 10 mos) and Thomas (2 yrs 3 mos). The census indicates that Carl was not a veteran of the armed service.

Carl Michel later became a school teacher. His last residence was at 2770 Columbus Street NE, Louisville Ohio 44641.

Obituary:
Carl J. Michel, age 89, of 7770 Columbus St. NE, Louisville passed away Friday June
7, at Joseph Nist Geriatric Home following an extended illness. Born in Caldwell, OH
July 25, 1895, he lived in the area for 82 years. He was a retired school teacher, farmer
and had worked for the Hercules Motor Co., for a number of years. He was a member
of the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Harrisburg and a World War I Army
Veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jane Cuenot of Canton and Mrs. Robert (Miriam)
Schillig of Columbus; ten sons, Virgil, Richard, Norbert and Terence all of Louisville;
Bernard and Mark of Canton; Robert and Charles of North Canton; Thomas of Carrollton;
and Vincent of Minerva; one sister, Mrs. Freida Paquelet of Louisville; 78 grandchildren and
28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, son Theodore; two
sisters and two brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at 10 A.M. in the Sacred Heart of Mary
Church with burial in the church cemetery. Calling hours were at the Paquelet Funeral Home
on Sunday.


Lillian Christine Frank

Wedding announcement, 18 Sep 1919, The Louisville Herald, pg 1, col. 3.
The marriage of Miss Lillian Frank, daughter of Mrs. Louis Frank and Mr. Carl
Michel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Michel, was solemnized at St. Mary’s Catholic
church at Harrisburg Tuesday morning. The nuptial high mass was celebrated by Rev.
Father Shannon, pastor of the church. The bride wore a gown of white satin with
georgette crepe and her attendant, Miss Ellen Frank, wore a gown of light blue georgette
crepe. The groomsman was Mr. Francis Michel. More than one hundred relatives and
friends of the couple witnessed the ceremony.
A fine wedding dinner was served at the Frank home at noon and following this, Mr.
and Mrs. Michel left on a wedding trip to southern Ohio. Upon their return, they will
reside at Canton where Mr. Michel is employed by the Gordon Rubber Co. The friends
of Mr. and Mrs. Michel extend their best wishes.

Obituary:
Mrs. Lillian C. Michel, age 77, of 8741 Columbus St. NE, Louisville passed away
Sunday morning [17 Apr 1977] in Timken-Mercy Hospital following a short illness.
Born in Harrisburg, O. September 21, 1899, she lived in the area all her life. She was
a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary
Society.
She is survived by her husband, Carl J. of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Francis
(Jane) Cuenot of Massollon and Mrs. Robert (Miriam) Schillog of Gahanna; 11 sons,
Theodore, Robert, and Charles Michel all of North Canton; Virgil, Richard, Normbert,
and Terrence Michel, allof Louisville; Bernard Michel of Canton, Thomas Michel of
Carrollton, Vincent Michel of Minerva and March Michel of Massillon; 76 grandchildren
and 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Frank of Louisville, Morris Frank of
Alliance, and Louis Frank of Napoleon; 5 sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Looby of Canton, Sister
Elizabeth Ann, Sisters of Charity of St. Mark., Mrs. Ellen Befue of Randolph, Mrs.
Louise Shillig and Mrs. Mary Befue, bit of Louisville.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of
Mary Church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends called at the Paquelet Funeral
Home Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM.


Lemon A. Hoover

There is a Strasburg in nearby Tuscarawas County, Ohio.

In 1900, Lemon and Rose Hoover owned a mortgaged farm in Beach City Village, Sugar Creek Twp., Stark County, Ohio. Living with them were their five children: Helen M. (Sep 1890), James A. (Sep 1892), Ralph O. (Jan 1894), Carl A. (Feb 1896) and Grace (Jul 1899). Helen and James attended school. Lemon Hoover was employed as a teamster. He and his wife had been married for 11 years. According to the census, Lemon and his parents were born in Ohio.


Rose E. Huber

According to the 1900 census, Rose was born in Ohio to German-born parents. All five of her children were living in 1900.


John Frigyes

Social Security number issued in Indiana prior to 1951. After the death of his first wife (Grace Zwick) in childbirth, John Frigyes married Grace's half-sister, Mildred. John was a resident of Malvern, Carroll Co., OH at the time of his death.


Grace Hazel Zwick

In January 1920, newborn Grace Hazel Zwick lived with her paternal grandparents on their farm in Louisville, Nimishillin Twp., Ohio. Her recently widowed father did not live with them.

MRS. JOHN FRIGYES
HOMEWORTH - Services for Mrs. Grace Hazel Frigyes,
25, were held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic church,
of which she was a member. Rev. Fr. A. J. Manning was in charge
with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Frigyes died Wednesday of last week in her home after
an illness of one week. She resided in Homeworth eight years, coming
from Louisville where she was born.
Surviving are her husband, Corp. John Frigyes, stationed at
Camp Rucker, Ala.; one son, Gary, of the home, her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Urban Zwick; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Tournoux and Wanda
Jean; and three brothers, Donald, Kenneth and Lawrence, all of the
home, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lemon Hoover and Mr. and
Mrs. Sebastian Zwick of Louisville..
