John P. Kearney

On September 12, 1918, John P. Kearney of 513 Sixth Ave., Braddock, Pa. filled out a U.S. military draft registration card. He gave his birthdate as March 1, 1898. John worked as clerk at the Westinghouse Machine Co. in East Pittsburgh. He gave his next of kin as his mother, Catherine Kearney, of the same address. John was described as being short and slender with brown eyes and light brown hair. The draft card stated that John had one wooden leg; his right leg had been amputated below the knee.

By 1930, John Kearney had moved to Tinicum, PA, just south of Philadelphia. John P. Kearney (32) and his wife of four years, Marie A. (24) owned a home worth $4000 at 507 Saude Ave. in Tinicum, Delaware County, PA. Living with them were their children Anna T. (1) and Bernard L. (6 mos.), and John's brother, Bernard J. (24). Both men worked at an electric manufacturer (probably Westinghouse, which had a plant near the home). John was a clerk, and Bernard was a blader. The family owned a radio set.


John J. O'Donnell

In 1930, John O'Donnell (34) and his wife of 12 years, Catherine (30) rented part of the home of Catherine's parents, Bernard and Catherine Kearney for $25 a month. . The home, worth $4000, was at 420 Mills Ave. in Braddock, Allegheny County, PA. Also living in the household were the O'Donnell's daughters, Virginia (10) and Dorthy (5). Virginia attended school. John worked as a laborer in a steel mill. John and his parents were natives of Ireland. Catherine and the children were born in Pennsylvania. John came to America in 1899 and was a naturalized citizen.


Thomas P. Flynn

In 1930, Thomas P. Flynn (31) and his wife Agnes M. (28) rented a part of home at 338 Hawkins Ave. in North Braddock, Allegheny County, PA. Living with them was their daughter Kathleen (1 yr., 11 mos.). Thomas and his parents were natives of Maryland. He was employed as a laborer in the steel mill. The family owned a radio set.


Bernard Joseph Kearney Jr.

In 1930, Bernard Kearney (24) lived with the family of his married brother, John (32) at 507 Saude Ave. in Tinicum, Delaware County, PA (just south of Philadelphia). Bernard worked as a blader in an electric manufacturing plant.
