Harry Merrill Hesson

The following article appeared in the Times Recorder on Feb 11, 1954 Pvt. Harry Hesson has returned to Ft. Lee,

Esther Alberta Schott

The following wedding announcement appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal on December 19, 1952 The marriage of Miss Esther Schott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Schott of Harriettsville, and Merrill Hesson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hesson of Macksburg, took place in St. Henry's catholic church in Harriettsville on Nov. 29, Rev. Father Martin A. McNichols, pastor, officiated at the vows. For her wedding the bride wore a ballerina length gown of white lace over satin, fashioned with long sleeves and a becoming neckline/ Sequins trimmed the collar and she wore a corsage of red roses. Miss Anna Mae Schott, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a yellow taffeta ballerina length gown with nylon yoke and a corsage of red roses. Nickie Schott, brother of the bride, was best man. A reception followed in the home of the bride's parents. Those attending included Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hesson, Jean, Richard, and Leland Hesson, Mr. and Mrs, Melvin Noe, Darlene, Kenny, Eugene, and Donald, Mrs. John Ullman, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schott, Charles Schott, Jr., Neil, Nickie, James, dean, and Anna Mae Schott. Mrs. Hesson is a graduate of Elk Local high school at Harriettsville and is employed in the office of the Timken Roller Bearing company in this city. Mr. Hesson is a graduate of Dexter city high school and is employed by the Mosaic Tile company. The couple is residing at 479 Forrest avenue.

Obituary HESSON INFANT IS SUMMONED Vickie Anna Hesson, five-day-old daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. H. Merrill Hesson of 479 Forest
avenue, died at 2:16 o'clock Thursday afternoon
at the Bethesda hospital. Surviving in addition to the parents are the
paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Hesson, and the maternal grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs Charles Schott, all of Dexter City, Rt.
2. Graveside rites will be conducted at 3 o'clock
this afternoon by Rev. Fr. Richard Endres, The
body is at the Putnam chapel of the Mader-
Peoples funeral home.

Dean Edward Schott

The following appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on July 23, 1962: NOBLE CO. MAN HURT IN CRASH CALDWELL -- Dean Edward Schott, 21, of Harriettsville Route 1 was injured early Sunday when the auto he was driving went out of control on Ohio 564 two miles west of here and struck an embankment. Harold Thompson, 18, of Lower Salem, a passenger in Schott's auto, was uninjured. The car was demolished, Schott was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment of chest injuries. The sheriff's office said the auto skidded 186 feet before striking the embankment backwards. Thompson was thrown from the vehicle. Schott was taken to the hospital in a McVay ambulance.


Clarence Henry Schafer

The following wedding announcement appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on August 14, 1936: SCHOTT-SCHAFER Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schott are announcing the marriage of
their daughter, Miss Pauline, to Clarence Schafer, the wedding
taking place at Parkersburg, W. Va., on Tuesday. The bride is a graduate of St. Ursula high school and is em-
ployed in the A&P store on West street. The groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Gusta Schafer, and is associated with his father as
rural mail carrier out of the Caldwell postoffice. Both are popular with a host of friends. They will reside in
Caldwell.

William Henry Schafer

The following birth announcement appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal on May 26, 1937 Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schafer, Caldwell, announce the birth of a son. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schott, Mrs. and Mrs. Gusta Schafer, both of Caldwell, are grandparents. The mother was formerly Miss Pauline Schott.

William Schafer's obituary appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on July 26, 1937CALDWELL INFANT DIES The death of William Schafer, nine-week-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schafer, Caldwell, occurred Sunday night at Good Samaritan hospital, following an operation. The infant was admitted to the hospital July 10. The body was removed to the home at Caldwell.


Lewis Archer

In 1930, 40 yearw old farmer Lewis Archer owned a farm worth $2000 in Center Twp., Noble County, Ohio where he lived with his wife Emm (35) and children George (16), Mabel (14), Everett (13), Harold (11), Hellen (8), and Geneva (4 yrs, 2 mos). All of the children except Geneva attended school. Like all of their neighbors, the Archer family did not own a radio set.


Lewis Archer's obituary appeared on page 3 A of the Zanesville Times Recorder on 18 Apr 1966:

Lewis Archer, 76, of Sarashville died in Good Samaritan Hospital
Saturday (April 10) after a week's illness. Death was due to an
apparent heart attack. Mr. Archer, a retired Canton real estate
salesman was born Jun 7, 1889 in Carlisle, son of William R.
and Martha White Archer. His wife, Emma Archer died 23
years ago.
Surviving are three sons, George Archer of Canton, James
Everett Archer of Sarahsville, and Harold Archer of Caldwell
Route 5; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Oliver and Mrs. Helen
Bradison, both of Cambridge, and Mrs. Geneva Schott of Caldwell;
a brother, Ralph Archer of Akron; three sisters, Mrs. Donna Dim-
merling and Mrs. Eva Johanning of Canton, and Mrs. Edna
Stewart of Akron, 26 grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Corpus Christ
Catholic Church in Belle Valley. Rosary will be recited at 7:30
p.m. today at Estadt Funeral Home in Caldwell. Burial will be
in St. Peter's Cemetery in Canton.

Miss Delores Schott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schott of near Caldwell, and Harold Archer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Archer of Canton, were united in marriage Saturday in the St. Philomena Catholic church. The Rev. Fr. Louis B. Preston officiated.
At noon, a wedding dinner was served to members of the bridal party and additional guests at the Schott home north of Caldwell. They left Sunday for Canton where Mr. Archer is employed and they will make their future home.
The bride is a graduate of the St. Ursula Catholic school and a member of the St. Philomena church. Mr. Archer formerly resided in the Berne community and graduated from Summerfield schools.

The following appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on August 9, 1947: TRACTOR UPSETS
DRIVER INJURED Harold Archer, 28, of Caldwell, was reported in fair condition at Good Samaritan hospital Friday night from injuries sustained when a tractor with which he was hauling logs slipped over a bank and overturned, pinning him beneath it. The accident happened Wednesday afternoon on the Wilbur Grimes farm, east of Caldwell. Paul Schott, Archer's brother-in-law, was treated at the hospital and later dismissed for an injured shoulder sustained while trying to free Archer from underneath the tractor. Schott and other workers jumped from the tractor to escape injuries. Archer sustained several broken ribs and injuries to both arms, it was reported at the hospital.

Harold Lewis Archer's obituary appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on December 19, 1972. CALDWELL -- Harold Lewis Archer, 54, of Route 6, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at his home following an apparent heart attack. Born Oct. 22, 1918, in Summerfield, he was a son of Lewis and Emma Warner Archer. He had been employed by Gould, Inc. since November 1952. Mr. Archer was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic church in Belle Valley and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his widow, Delores; six daughters, Mrs. James (Judy) Dennis of Caldwell, Mrs. Norman (Janice) Chambers of Highland, Mich., Joyce, Jeanne, Julie and Jill. all of the home; four sons, Jerry of Caldwell, Jack, with the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, Va., James and Joe both of the home; one brother, James E. of Sarahsville; three sisters, Mrs. Donald (Mabel) Oliver of Cambridge, Mrs. Paul (Geneva) Schott of Caldwell and Mrs. Roy (Helen) Bradison of Gilroy, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be recited at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Belle valley. Rev. Fr. Rudolph Wargo will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Caldwell. Friends may call anytime at Estadt Funeral Home, Caldwell where Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today.

Harold is not mentioned as a surviving son in his father's 1966 obituary.


Delores Philomena Schott

announcing the approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss
Delores, to Harold A. Archer, of Canton. The single ring ceremony will be performed at 8 o'clock, Saturday,
Sept. 28, in the St. Philomena Catholic church, Caldwell. the Rev.
Father Louis B. Preston will officiate. Miss Schott is a graduate of the St. Ursula high school in Caldwell
and is well known here. Mr. Archer is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Archer of Canton, former
residents of the Carlisle community.

Dolores P. Archer age 94 of Caldwell, OH passed away Wednesday April 23, 2014 at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, OH. She was born July 31, 1919 in Harrietsville, OH a daughter of the late Henry U. and Laura Zwick Schott.

She was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley, OH for many years and most recently was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell. She was also active in the Catholic Women’s Club. She was a licensed beautician, and was a devoted Cleveland Indians fan. She enjoyed baking, quilting and gardening. She will forever be remembered as the “Noble County Pie Lady.”

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Harold L. Archer, whom she married Sept. 28, 1940 and who passed away Dec. 17, 1972; great-grandson Colton James Miley; 3 brothers Paul, Bob and Henry Schott Jr.; 1 sister Betty Oretle; 2 sons-in-law Norm Chambers and Don Moore Jr.

She was loved and will be missed by her family, 4 sons James H. (Barbara) Archer, Jerry (Linda) Archer, Joseph (Sue) Archer all of Caldwell, John “Jack” Sandy Archer of Sarahsville; 6 daughters Judy (Jim) Dennis of Caldwell, Janice Chambers of Mt. Gilead, OH, Joyce Moore of Caldwell, Jeanie (Steve) Rich of Sarahsville, Julie (Jimmie) Moore of Sarahsville and Jill (Bill) Franklin II of Sarahsville; 30 Grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; 4 sisters Pauline Schafer, Mildred Ackley both of Caldwell, Beulah Cardarelli of Akron, OH and Marilyn Fleming of New Zealand; sister-in-law Betty Archer of Caldwell. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends will be received Friday, April 25, 2014 from 2 to 8 PM, with a Vigil Service at 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 26 2014 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell, with Rev. Father Chester Pabin and Rev. Father Robert Borer serving as co-celebrants. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Caldwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Nationwide Children's Hospital, 700 Children's Drive, Columbus, OH 43205.
