Magnus Hohmann

Records conflict on date of birth: Snider gives 1812, Anderson gives 1813, Kaib gives 23 Jan 1813.

In 1880, widower Magnus Hohman was listed as a boarder and a farm hand on the farm of R.L. Bramhall in Enoch Twp. Noble County, Ohio. Adjacent farms belonged to elderly widower John Miller and Magus Hohman's niece, widow Augusta Hohman Bosold. Magnus' brother Joseph Hohman lived two doors away.

This note appeared in The Caldwell Citizen Press on 16 Dec 1880:
On the sick lists, Magnus Hohman, oldest brother of John S. and Joseph Michel, of
Stock Twp.; fears are entertained that he cannot recover.

From the same paper on 20 Jan 1881:
The grave of Jos. Michael had hardly been covered when the bell of the Catholic
Church tolled the death of Magnus Hohman. For the last year he was very feeble
and his decrease was not unexpected. About forty years ago he left the land of his
birth and came to this country. He spent most of his life at Wheeling. When his
children left him his brother John [Sebastian] brought him to this place. By the
failure of the latter, Magnus lost about all he had saved. It was proposed for him to
go with his brother to Kansas but he chose rather to remain with his niece and her
husband. He was buried last Friday from the Catholic Church.

The names of Magnus Hohman's children are not known.
