Matilda Ruppel

Dates for Matilda Ruppel Hohman are in dispute.

Linda Kay Anderson gives 21 Nov 1877 - 20 Jul 1940, citing "A History of the Smithberger Family..." as her source. She notes however, "This source gave her birth as August 19, 1882, near Fulda, OH. her parents John and Caroline Herbst Ruppel. She died August 17, 1971." The Social Security Death Index lists a Matilda Hohman (1882-1971) with a last residence in Butler Co., PA (190-40-8137). Matilda Ruppel is not listed with the family in the 1880 census. Since Matilda evidently lived to adulthood, it is assumed that the 1882 birthdate is correct.

Delores Snider's manuscript indicates that John and Caroline Herbst Ruppel moved from Fulda, Noble Co., OH to the Fox settlement in Washington Co. OH in 1871.
