Anthony Joseph Burkhart

In 1930, Anthony J. Burkhart (46) owned a farm worth $2400 at Rock River, Somerset Twp., Belmont County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife, Rosa (46), and children Clara (19), Margaret (15), Marie (11), Herman (8), Charles (7), and Frederick (5). All of the children except Clara attended school. Like most of their neighbors, the Burkharts did not have a radio set.

Obituary (from Betty Hartley):
Mrs. Rose Hughes Burkhart, 81, of Temperanceville, died Saturday evening, April
3, 1965 at 8:30 o'clock, in a Cambridge hospital after an extended illness.
She was was born October 14, 1883 at Temperanceville, the daughter of Frank and
Sarah Gallagher Huges. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony.
Surviving are three sons: Herman Burkhart of Malaga; Charles Burkhart of Columbus;
and Fred Burkhart of Wickliffe; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Miller of Quaker City, Route
3, Mrs. Margaret Nau, of Caldwell, Ohio, and Mrs. Marie Miller of Jerusalem Route 1;
a brother, Joseph Hughes of Barnesville; a sister, Mrs. Mary Forbes of Okmulgee, Okla-
homa; twenty-seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Requiem High Mass was solemnized Tuesday morning at ten o'clock in St. Mary's
Church in Temperanceville, with Rev. Donald Schweideman officiating. Interment was
in the church cemetery.

Theresa M. ‘Terri’ Braddock
MOUNT VERNON — Theresa M. “Terri” Braddock, 54, of Mount
Vernon (formerly of Marietta) died Thursday (Sept. 15, 2005) at
her residence following a five-year battle with cancer. She was born May 22, 1951, in Marietta to Andrew and Margaret
Burkhart Nau. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic
Church in Marietta. She was a 1969 graduate of Caldwell High
School and received her bachelor’s degree from Otterbein
College. She taught briefly in the Fort Frye School District,
and was employed a number of years at United National
Bank in Parkersburg. She is survived by her husband, Gary G. Braddock, to whom
she has been married 33 years; a son, Phil D. Braddock of
Cincinnati; her parents, Andrew and Margaret Nau of Caldwell;
and two brothers, Herman (Betty) Nau of Caldwell and Carl
(Bonnie) Nau of Marietta. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Nau. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Marietta with Father Mark Moore
and Father Dale Tornes as co-celebrants. Burial will be in
Mound Cemetery. The North-Dilley Funeral Home, 212 North
Main St., Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050, is in charge of the
arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic
Church, 506 West Fourth St., Marietta, Ohio 45750, or Hospice
