John Sebastian Hohman

In 1920, Bassie S. Hohman (48) rented a farm in Sherman Twp., Riley County, Kansas with his wife Anna (43). There were no children in the household. His widowed mother lived next door.

At the time of the 1930 census, Bassie (58) and Anna (53) Hohman owned a home wirth $2800 in Garrison, Green Twp., Pottawtomie County, Kansas. Living with them was a 27 year old unmarried lodger named Fred Freiling, who worked as a carpenter.. Bassie Hohman worked as a farm laborer, however the property he owned was not a farm.

Renting a home a few doors away from Bassie Hohman in 1930 was a 35 year old unmarried woman named Della (or Bella) M. Hohman. Her mother was born in Kansas, and her father in Ohio. She worked as a cook in a restaraunt. The relationship between her and Bassie Hohman is not known at this time.


Anna F. Siebecker

According to the 1920 and 1930 census, Anna was born in Kansas, and her father was born in Wisconsin. Her mother, who spoke German, was born in Switzerland.


Andrew Hohman

In 1920, 34 year old Andy Hohman rented a farm in Sherman Twp., Riley County, Kansas. He lived there with his wife Edna (33), and children Dessie (12), Mo D. (8), and Geneva A. (2 yrs, 2 mos). Also living with them was Andy's unmarried brother Fred (36).

From the Riley County Kansas 1925 Decennial Agricultural State census: 40 year old Andy Hohman lived in Jackson Twp., Riley Co., Kansas with his 38 year old wife Edna. Living with them were daughters Dessie (17), Genevieve (7), and Mina (5); and sons Donald (13) and Vernon (3). Everyone in the household was born in Kansas. No occupations are listed.

In 1930, Andy Hohman (50) rented a farm in Bala Twp., Riley Co., Kansas, where he lived with his wife Edna (43) and children Mc. D. (18), Geneva L. (12), Mina A. (10) and Vernon (8). The younger three children attended school. The family did not own a radio set.


Edna L. McDonald

Edna's parents were born in Indiana, according to the 1920 census.


Dessie N. Hohman

Dessie Hohman did not live with her parents at the time of the 1930 census. She would have been about 22 years old at the time.


Mc Donald Hohman

In 1930, 18 year old McDonald Hohman lived with his parents and younger siblings in Bala Twp., Riley Co., Kansas. He had previously worked in an auto repair shop, but was not employed at the time of the census.

Fred Hohman

In 1920, 36 year old unmarried farmer Fred Hohman lived with the family of his brother Andy in Sherman Twp. Riley County, Kansas.

From the Riley County Kansas 1925 Decennial Agricultural State census: 40 year old farmer Fred Hohman lived in Jackson Twp., Riley County, Kansas with his 28 year old wife Hattie. There were no children in the household.

In 1930, Fred (47) and Hattie (33) rented a farm in Jackson Twp. for $350 a month. Hattie's widowed mother, Swedish-born Helen Anderson (76) lived with them. Unlike their neighbors, the Hohmans did not own a radio set. Fred and Hattie were 38 and 24, respectively, when they first married.


George W. Hohman

In 1920, 34 year old George Hohman lived on a rented farm in Wildcat Twp., Riley County, Kansas with his wife Bertha (36) and son Faye (8). Faye attended school the previous year.

From the Riley County Kansas 1925 Decennial Agricultural State census: 39 year old farmer George Hohman lived in Seven Mile Twp., Riley Co., Kansas with his 41 year old wife Bertha and 13 year old son Fay.

In 1930, George (44) and Bertha (46) Hohman rented a farm in Seven Mile Twp. They lived there with their son William (18). George and Bertha were 22 and 24 years old, respectively, when they first married. The Hohmans owned a radio set.

According to the 1920 census, Berth'a father was born in Indiana, and her mother was from Illinois.


Fred William Stadel

According to the 1900 census, Fritz (Frederick) lived with his parents, Frederick and Gustina in Bala Twp., Riley Co., Kansas. Both Frederick and Gustina were born in Prussia.

In 1910, 31 year old farmer Fred W. Stadel lived with his wiofe of 7 years, Tillie K. (27) on a farmer they owned in Wild Cat Twp., Riley Co., Kansas. Living with them was their son, Clarence H. (5). All members of the household were born in Kansas. Tillie's parents were born in Ohio and the census indicates that the location of the birth of Fred's parents was unknown.

On September 12, 1918, 41 year old farmer, Fritz William Stadel of Route 4, Manhattan, Riley Co., Kansas registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card he was born February 3, 1877 and his nearest relative was Tilda Stadel of the same address. His physical description is given as meduium height and build, hazel eyes and light brown hair.

From the Riley County Kansas 1925 Decennial Agricultural State census: 48 year old farmer Fritz W. Stadel lived in Manhattan Twp., Riley Co., Kansas with his 43 year old wife Tilda and sons Clarence (20, a laborer) and Maynard (13).

In 1920, 41 year old farmer Fritz W. Stadel lived with his wife Tilda (35) on a farm they owned in Manhattan Twp., Riley Co., Kansas. Living with them were their children Clarence (15) and Maynard (8). Both boys attended school. All members of the household were born in Kansas. Fritz's parents were born in Germany and Tilda's parents were born in Ohio.

In 1930, 52 year old farmer Fritz W. Stadle (sic) lived with his wife Tillie (46) and son Maynard (18) on a farm he owned in Manhattan Twp., Riley Co., Kansas. Based on census data, Fritz and Tillie had been married for about 27 years. Maynard worked as a laborer in a garage. All members of the household were born in Kansas. According to the census, Fritz's father and Tillie's parents were born in the United States and Frit's mother in Illinois. The family owned a radio set.


B.S. Hohman

From the Riley County Kansas 1925 Decennial Agricultural State census: 53 year old farmer B.S. Hohman lived in Sherman Twp, Riley Co., Kansas with his 48 year old wife Anna. No children lived in the household.


Arthur Francis Camphire

Sources conflict on burial: Rick Schoen states that Arthur Camphire was cremated. Son Bob Camphire indicates that his father is buried in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
