Philip Jacob Mall Jr.

In 1900, 31 year old farmer Jacob Mall (Oct. 1868) lived with his wife of 8 years Eva (28 - Dec. 1871) and daughter Caroline (1 - Nov 1898) on a rented farm in Grant Twp., Clay Co., Kansas. Also living with them were "servants" Mabel Weir (16) and Jacob Slingoby (19). According to the census, Jacob was born in Germany; Eva in Ohio; and Caroline in Kansas.

In 1910, 41 year old farmer Jacob P. Mall lived with his wife Eva (38 on a farm they owned in Grant Twp., Clay Co., Kansas. Also living with them were children Emma C. (11) and Dana D. (5). According to the census, Jacob was born in Germany; Eva in Ohio; and the children in Kansas.

In 1920, 51 year old farmer Jacob P. Mall lived on a mortgaged farm in Grant Twp., Clay County, Kansas with his wife Eva M. (44) and daughter Emma C. (22). Jacob came to America in 1884 and became a naturalized citizen in 1890.

In 1920, Albert Cochran (53) lived on Masters Ave. in Green City, Highland Twp., Clay County, Kansas. With him lived his wife Margaret (44) and children Etta E. (25), Alvin (18), Lee (12), and Cale (10). Lee and Cale attended school. Albert and Margaret's daughter, Lottie Cochran Caley, lived next door. Albert was employed as a bailer of hay and straw. None of the children were employed outside the home. Albert and his mother were born in Indiana. His father was born in Ohio.

In 1920. Alvin Cochran lived with his parents and siblings in Green City, Clay County, Kansas. He was not employed outside the home.


William Frank Adams

In 1900, 25 year old (February 1874) farmer, William Adams, lived with his wife, Rachel (23 - August 1876), and children, Herbert G. (2 - August 1898) and Leuella ( 2 mos. - March 1900) in a rented home in Highland Twp., Clay Co., Kansas. According to the census, William and Rachel had been married for 4 years and Rachel had given birth to 2 children both of who were still living. William and the children were born in Kansas, Rachel in Ohio, William's parents in Maine and Rachel's ather in Ohio and her mother in Pennsylvania.

At the time of the 1910 US census, 35 year old farmer, William Adams, lived with his wife, Reachel (33), and children, Herbert G. (12) and Leuella B. (10) in a rented home in Highland Twp., Clay Co., Kansas. Also living with them was William's 18 year old brother Wirnan (Vernon?). According to the census, William and Reachel had been married for 13 years and Reachel had given birth to 2 children both of who were still living. William and the children were born in Kansas, Reachel in Ohio, William's parents in Maine and Rachel's ather in Ohio and her mother in Pennsylvania.

On September 12, 1918, 43 year old farmer, William Frank Adams (dob Feb 1, 1875) of 1 R.F.D. Green, Clay Co., Kansas registered for the military draft. His physical description is given as short, medium build, brown eyes and black hair. His place of employment is given as R.F. 1, Center Twp., Riley Co., Kansas and his nearest relative is given as his wife, Rachel Adams of Green, Clay Co., Kansas.

In 1920, 45 year old farmer, W. F. Adams, lived with his wife, Rachel (43), and daughter Louilla B. (20) in a mortgaged home in Center Twp., Riley Co., Kansas. Places of birth agreed with those recorded in previous census records.

When the 1930 census was taken, 55 year old William F. Adams, lived with his wife, Rachel (43), and son Junior (10) in a home they owned (value $3000) at 919 Leonardville Road in Clay Center, Clay Co., Kansas. Based on census data, they had been married of 32 years. According to the census, William and Louillan were born in Kansas, Rachel in Ohio, William's parents in Maine and Rachel's parents in Ohio. William worked as a laborer on county roads. The family owned a radio.


Jacob Mall

Researcher Linda Kay Anderson states that Philip Jacob Mall Jr.'s parents were Jacob Mall and Elizabeth Zilley. It is known that Phillip and his wife moved to Clay Co., Kansas. The following family appears in the 1920 census, but it has not been proven that this is Phillip's father.

In 1920. 83 year old widower Jacob Mall lived on a farm that he owned in Clay Center City, Clay Co., Kansas. With him lived his daughter, Martha (49), and her 52 year old husband Charles Frank (hard to read). Jacob came to America in 1855 (This conflicts with information provided by Linda Anderson stating that Jacob's son, Philip Jacob, was born in Germany in 1868.) Jacob became a naturalized citizen in 1912.

Jacob's daughter was born in 1870 in Kansas; her father and mother were born in Germany and Holland, respecitively. Her husband was born in Ohio in 1867. His parents were born in Kentucky and Ohio. Jacob, his son-in-law, and his daughter all have "none" for their occupation.


Emma Caroline Mall

In 1920, 22 year old Emma C. Mall lived on her parents' farm in Grant Twp., Clay Co., Kansas. She was employed as a school teacher for the local school district.

In 1920, 25 year old Etta Cochran lived with her parents and younger siblings in Green City, Clay County, Kansas. She was not employed outside the home.


Orrin Perry Caley Jr.

In 1920, 25 year old Parry Caley lived on Masters Ave. in Green City, Highland Twp., Clay County, Kansas. With him lived his wife Lottie (25) and children Lawton (3 yrs, 10 mos.) and Alice (10 mos.) Perry's home was located next to that of his father-in-law, Albert Cochran. Perry and his parents were born in Kansas. Perry Caley worked as a mechanic in a gargage. The census says that he was an "employer," suggesting that he owned the business.
