He was born Aug. 18, 1937, at Middleburg to Edson and Lucille Hayes Clark. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Ohio National Guard and was a member of Middleburg United Methodist Church. He retired Oct. 1, 1999, as a heavy equipment operator with B&N Coal Co. at Dexter City after nearly 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia J. Holdren Clark; his parents; one brother, Paul Hayes Clark, in 1983; his father-in-law, Bill Swearingen, in 1985; and two brothers-in-law, Roy Gildow, in 1975, and Chuck West, in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Swearingen Clark; two daughters, Lisa (Steve) Saling of Caldwell and Lori (Anthony Romnosky) Rossiter of Sarahsville; one son, Gary (Edith) Boyle of Roscommons, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Marilyn (Denny) Shafer of Caldwell and Margaret (Doug) Peery of Horse Shoe, N.C.; two stepsons, Bill (Diane) Clark of Middleburg and Kip (Barbara) Clark of Caldwell; two sisters, Lois "Fanny" Gildow of Middleburg and Annabelle West of Caldwell; six grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services are at 1 p.m. today at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell with Mike West, Helen Lewis and Aaron Welch officiating. Burial is in Ogles Ridge Cemetery near Middleburg with Caldwell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4721 and Belle Valley American Legion Post 641 to conduct military graveside services. George Foreman Sr.

Obituary:

George W. (Woody) Foreman, Sr., age 78, of Caldwell, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at his residence. He was born Nov. 12, 1922, in Noble County, son of the late John and Nancy Butler Foreman. He owned and operated Woody's Auto Crushing and Scrap Metals in Caldwell since 1967. He was a member of the Center Free Methodist Church at Sarahsville and was a generous, loving, quiet man who loved his community and helped youth, church, and community organizations in any way he could. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his wife, E. Edna Wickham Foreman, whom he married March 21, 1944; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Janet Kay) Clark of East Union, Mrs. Dale (Judith) Clark and Joan Foreman and companion, Kevin Allison, both of Caldwell; one son, George W. Woody (Dorothy) Foreman, Jr. of Caldwell; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, March 4 and Monday, March 5, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Eugene Gill officiating. Burial will be at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell.
