Charles William Burkhart

Sources conflict on date of birth:
Jan 1869 - 1900 census
abt 1869 -- 1870 census
18 Jan 1872 -- death certificate
1872 -- headstone

In 1900, Charles W. (31) and Mary E. (27) Burkhart owned a mortgaged farm in Elk Twp., Noble County, Ohio. Living in the household were three children, Tesa W. (5), William H. (2), and Martha A. (4 mos.). Charles and Mary had been married for two years. Since the oldest child was 5 years old, she would have been born before the marriage. The census states that Mary E. Burkhart had given birth to three children, all of whom were living at the time of the census.

At the time of the 1910 census, the family was still living on a mortgaged farm in Elk Twp. The household consisted of Charles W. (40), Mary E. (36), Henry W. (12), Martha A. (10), Mary M. (8), Louis G. (5), Verna C. (3), and Bessie M. (9 months). The three oldest children attended school. The census states that Charles and Elizabeth had been married for 12 years, and that this was the first marriage for both.

Date of birth on grave marker is 1872.

In 1910, 56 year old George Weckbacher lived in Noble County, OH with his 34 year old wife Frances and nine children aged 5 through 28. Since Frances is only six years older than the oldest child, it's probable that she is George's second wife.

Agnes G. Kress

Wedding announcement from The Zanesville Signal, pg 10, 23 Jan 1032:
MARIETTA GIRL WEDS
A wedding of interest to their many friends here was
that in which Miss Agnes Kress and Fred J. Keller, both of Mari-
etta, were the principals.
The ceremony was performed January 18 at 9 a.m. at
Fulda Catholic church with Rev. F.J. B. Mattes officiating. Miss
Mary Peter, Fulda, formerly of Miltonsburg, attended Miss Kress
as a bridesmaid.
Following the ceremony the happy couple left for a two
weeks wedding trip through Pennsylvania and several other points
of interest. Upon their return they will reside in Marietta where
the groom has employment.
Mrs. Keller is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kress,
Miltonsburg and is well and favorably known. For the past year
she had been employed in Marietta.

It is not clear why the couple got married at the church in Fulda, since neither they nor their families appear to have been members of the parish.

Obituary:
Mrs. Elizabeth Ullman, an aged and highly respected lady, recently died
very suddenly at the home of her son, Philip, who resides about four miles
south of Harrietsville. "Aunt Lizzie" as she was lovingly called by relatives
and friends far and near, had reached her ninetieth birthday the 24th of last
August, and although in failing health, was able to go to the table to eat supper
with the family on the evening a little while before she died. Her husband pre-
ceded her to the beyond a number of years ago.
She was the mother of fourteen children, six of whom live to mourn the
death of a good and loving mother. They are Philip, of the family home; Peter,
of Harrietsville; William, of Lower Salem; Mrs. Phoebe Beardmore, of Warner;
Mrs. Lena McPeek, of Lebanon; and Mrs. Mary Glober, of West Virginia. She
was a life long member of the Lutheran Church, and having lived a beautiful,
useful life, has gone to her reward. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran
Church. Interment was made in the Lutheran Cemetery.
