Clemence Joseph Rausch

Clem J. Rausch and daughter, Hilda, are ill at their home with influenza

Clem was the first editor of the Monroe County Beacon (newspaper). This clipping (source unknown) was provided by researcher Betty Hartley:
C. J. Rausch was born at Fulda, Noble County, Ohio, on the 21st day of April,
1884, where he resided until the age of six years, moving from there to Caldwell, Noble
County, Ohio, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Rausch. After residing four years
in Caldwell, owing to his father's death, left for Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio, where
he lived with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Huth until his mother moved to Woods-
field. Mr. Rausch attended school until at the age of 15 years when he was employed by
Mr. Dennis Buskirk, the editor of The Spirit of Democracy, where he remained from the
19th day of September 1898 to the 15 th day of September 1900, when he accepted a posi-
tion with Zitzmann & Price, editors of The Taxpayer, starting on his duties with this firm on
the 17 day of September, 1900, where he is still employed under the management of Mr. F. M.
Martin, present proprietor and editor of The Monroe County Republican.

Mary A. Weisend

In 1900, Mary Weisend (18) lived on the family farm in Seneca Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with her parents and siblings. She was employed as a cook. She did not live with her parents and siblings at the time of the 1910 census.

Mary was a resident of Monroe County at the time of her death.


Hilda E. Rausch

Obituary:
Hilda E. Rausch, 82, former publisher and co-owner of the Monroe County Beacon,
died Wednesday in Americare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Woodsfield. A resident
of 105 E. Court St., Woodsfield, she was born May 18, 1907 in Woodsfield, daughter of
the late Clem J. and Mary A. Weisend Rausch.
She retired in 1977 after being publisher and co-owner of the Monroe County Beacon
for 40 years. Rausch was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, the Catholic
Women's Club, the Monroe County Business and Professional Women's Club and the Monroe
County Historical Society.
Surviving are a brother, Elmer Rausch ofWoodsfield; two nieces, Mrs. Paul (Barbara) Conner
of Woodsfield, and Mr. Jack (Rita) Spiers of Pickerington; a great nieces; two great nephews.
Friends received 2 to 9 p.m. today at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield. Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church with the
Rev. George Adams, the celebrant. Burial Follows in Church Cemetery. Rosary devotions at 8:30
p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Sylvester Catholic
Church or the charity of the donor's choice.


Edward Joseph Rorick

On 12 Jul 1883, the Fulda column of the Caldwell Citizens' Press reported:
Births -- to Leonard and Regena Rohrick, July 6, a son.

In 1910, Edward J. Rorick (26) lived with his wife of 2 years, Antoinette S. (23) and children Paul C. (2) and Lucille R. (4 mos.) in a rented house at the rear of 1409 Market St. Canton, stark Co., Ohio. All members of the household as well as Edward's and Antoinette's parents were born in Ohio. Edward worked as a moulder in an iron [works].

On September 12, 1918, 37 year old Edward Joseph Rorick (dob: July 6, 1882) of 1401 Court Ave. SW, Canton, Stark Co., Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card, he was employed as a moulder for the Wedder Foundry Co. at 1221 Prosepect Ave., Canton, Stark Co., Ohio. His nearest relative was listed as Mrs. Nettie Sofia Rorick of 1401 Court Ave. SW, Canton, Stark Co., Ohio. His physical description is given as medium height and build, with blue eyes and brown hair.

In 1920, 37 year old Edward Rohrick lived with his wife, Antoinette (32), in a mortgaged home they owned at 1437 Cleveland Ave. SW, Canton, Stark co., Ohio. Living with them were their children, Paul (11), Lucile (10), Francis (8) and Norman (5). Paul and Lucile attended school. Edward worked as a moulder in an iron foundry. All members of the household as well as Edward's and Antoinette's parents were born in Ohio. Also living with them as boarders were Charles Keller (27), Harry Davis (24) and Elmer Davis (27).

In 1930, 46 year old Edward Rorick lived with his wife, Antoinette (42), in a home they owned (value $6000) at 1437 Cleveland Ave. SW, Canton, Stark Co., Ohio. Based on census data, they had been married for about 23 years. Living with them were their children, Paul (22), Lucille (20), Francis (18) and Norman (15). Edward worked as a moulder in a foundry, Paul as a pattern maker in a pattern shop, Lucille as a rubber worker in a rubber shop and Francis as a barber in a barber shop. Norman attended school. All members of the household as well as Edward's and Antoinette's parents were born in Ohio. the family did not own a radio set.

On April 27, 1942, Edward J. Rorick (59, dob: July 6, 1883, pob: Fulda, Noble Co., Ohio) of 1437 Cleveland Ave. SW, Canton, Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card the person who would always know his address was Antoinette Rorick of the same address. He was employed by Colonial Foundry Co., Louisville, Stark Co., Ohio. His physical description is given as height: 5'4"; weight: 170 lbs., eyes: blue; hair: brown; complexion: light.

Norman Rorick was married at the time of his death. His wife's name is not known at this time.


Elijah Conkell

In 1910, 39 year old widower Elijah Conkell rented a home on West Wood Avenue in Green Twp., Wayne County, Ohio. Living in the household were his two children, Marie (5) and Henry (4), sisters-in-law Rose (28) and Catherine (27) Rohrig and brothers-in-law Leo (25) and Beda (20) Rohrig. The marital status of all of the Rohrigs was "unknown." Elijah was the president of a pump works. He and his mother were born in Ohio, as were all of the Rohrigs. Elijah did not know where his father was born. Marie was born in West Virginia; her brother Henry was a native of Ohio.


Regina Roehrig

Twenty-two year old Regina Roehrig was not listed with her parents and siblings in the 1900 census.


Terrance John Roehrig

Terrance did not live with his parents and younger siblings in 1930. A search of the index 1930 US Census did not reveal anyone named Terrance Roehrig. He was eventually found by Ed Miller under the name "Tarana Roehrig" living in Canton, Ohio with his second cousins, sisters Viola (26), Hazel (21), Julia (19) and Ida (16) Schell (Schehl). Terrance worked as a laborer in a factory.

Terraence John Roehrig, 62, of Caldwell, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday (Dec 19) at Good Samaritan Hospital where he was admitted earlier in the evening. Born Feb. 9 1905 near Caldwell, he was a son of Albert and Millie Schott Roehrig. He was employed by Noble County garage. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fulda.
Mr. Roehrig is survived by his widow, Ruth Bishop Roehrig; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Margaret Craig, Mrs. Eleanor Riski, and Frieda Roehrig all of Caldwell, Mrs. Eulalia Valot of Canton, and Mrs. Dorothy Bing of Massillon, two brothers, Bernard of the home, and Eddie of Caldwell.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. J. J. Donaldson officiating. The body was taken to Estadt Funeral Home of Caldwell where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mary Margaret Rose Roehrig

Obituary:
CALDWELL - Mary Margaret Rose Craig, 88, of Caldwell died Friday afternoon
(Nov. 14, 2003) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge.
She was born April 2, 1915, in Fulda to Albert and Amelia "Mollie" Schott Roehrig.
She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Craig, who died in 1961; her parents;
four brothers, Terrance, Roy, Bernard and Edward Roehrig; three sisters, Eulalia Valot, Freda
Gill and infant Lenora Roehrig; and one grandson, Jeffrey Koval.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Koval of Caldwell, Linda (Jon) Koval of
Caldwell and Christine (Greg) Bates of Sarahsville; two sisters, Dorothy Bing of Massillon
and Eleanor Riski of Caldwell; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Catholic
Church in Caldwell with Father Dale Tornes as celebrant. Burial is in Mount Olivet Cemetery
in Caldwell. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McVay-Perkins Funeral
Home at 416 East St., Caldwell, where Christian Scripture services will be conducted at 8:30
p.m. Tuesday.

Elenora Rosa Roehrig

STITCH--IN--TIME 4--H CLUB
Thursday afternoon the Stitch-in-Time 4-H club met
at Fulda School at 1 o’clock. Nineteen members were present,
and the advisor, Marcella Fox. Several of the girls had completed
their projects.
Plays were practiced, several songs were sung. Demon-
strations were given on sewing on snaps by Vera Crock; sewing
on buttons by Ardelia Miller; working blanket stitch by Rita
Smithberger; filled stitch by Gladys Crock; working button hole
by Elenora Roehirg. The roll call was answered by naming a fav-
orite tree. Refreshments were served by Eileen Weisent, Arline
Schoeppner, Gladys Crock, Alberta Arnold. The next meeting
will be on July 11 at 1 o’clock at Fulda school.

Cindy McCoy will be bridesmaids. Brenda and John Anderson Jr., sister and brother of the bride, will be
flower girl and ring bearer. Dean Allen Sharrer will be his brother's best man. Ushers will be Dennis
and Nelson Roehrig, brothers of the bride, and Vic Thompson. A reception will follow at Veterans of Foreign Wars Home. Assistants will
be the Misses Nancy and Carol Thompson, Linda Sharrer, Debbie Ansel,
Karen Miller, Mary Beth Ferguson, Becky Creeks and Cathy Vincent. Miss Roehrig is a graduate of West Muskingum High and is employed by
Van-Orr Foods. Mr. Sharrer is a graduate of Zanesville High School. He is employed by
Scott's Store. The couple's engagement was announced Sept. 22.
