Alex's birth order in the 1900 and 1910 census suggest that the Singer figure is correct.

Although he lived in Lisbon, he said that he was a self-employed farmer in Greenfield Twp., Jones County, Iowa. Alex stated that he had a wife and two children. He was described as being of medium height and build with brown eyes and brown hair. Alex's brother Simon also lived in Lisbon, IA in 1917. Simon was married to Erma's half-sister, Cora Albaugh.
