George Aloysius Burkhart

In 1900, a man named George Burkhardt lived as a servant on the farm of George and Mary Haren in Malaga Twp., Monroe County, Ohio. George's birthdate is given as May 1876. It has not been proven that this is the son of Anthony Burkhart. (ED 77, pg 7A, fam 129-130, line 10).

George Burkhart's death certificate states that he died from "strangulation of right inguinal hernia with perforation of small intestine (gangrene)." Contributing to his death was "general peritonitis." An operation at Martins Ferry Hospital to repair the hernia and intestine two days before his death was not successful.
