CALDWELL -- Larry W. Sanford, 73, of Dexter City, passed away Thursday (June 18, 2009) at his residence. He was born Feb. 13, 1936 in Dexter City, son of the late Howard and Freda Barnhart Sanford.
Mr. Sanford served and protected his nation in the National Guard. He attended the New Harmony Baptist Church in Moundsville and was a member of the American Legion Post 750 in Lowell. He was a meat cutter by trade and was the owner of Larry's "Big Red" Meat Market in Lowell. He eventually retired from International Converter Inc. in Caldwell. Larry was a faithful fan of the Otterbein College Women's basketball program. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and also enjoyed sitting on his porch swing. He will always be remembered by his family for his bottomless cookie jar.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by three sisters, Marjorie McCalla, Mary Jean Bird and Patricia Hanson; and three brothers, Robert, William and Richard Sanford.
Surviving are two daughters, Debbie (Tim) Schott of Caldwell and Connie (Clete) Richardson of Westerville; two sons, Ronnie (Marsha) Sanford of Elba and Jeff (Lisa) Sanford of Dexter City; 11 Grandchildren, Jared Schott, Adam (Stephanie) Schott, Nick and Hannah Richardson, Melissa Fogle, Joshua (Nicole) Fogle, Tiffany (Josh) Kehl, Zachary Sanford, Caleb, Halle and Gracie Sanford; two great-grandsons, Dylan Schott and Brant Fogle; his children's mother, Marilyn Ball of Canton; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West St., Caldwell, OH 43724, where services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Mark Leslie officiating.
Burial will follow in Dudley Cemetery, where the Noble County Veteran Service will conduct military graveside services.

In 1930, Howard D. Sanford (32) and his wife Freda F. (31) owned a home worth $1000 in Olive Township, Noble County, Ohio. Living with them were their children Robert D. (), William E. (), Marjorie O., (), Mary J. (4 yrs 10 mos.), and Patricia A. (2 mos.). Howard worked as a tool dresser in an oil field.

Patricia A. Hanson, age 71, of Canton, died Sunday evening in AultmanHospital following an extended illness. Born February 10, 1930, in NobleCounty, OH., to the late Howard and Freda Sanford. She was a member ofMarket Heights United Church of Christ, where she was in the choir. She wasactive with the American Cancer Society, and enjoyed bowling. Most of allshe was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by threebrothers and one sister. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence of the homewith whom she celebrated 54 happy years of marriage; four daughters andsons-in-law, Candy and Raymond Stinchcomb of Canton, Laurie and Greg Oylerof Massillon, Melissa (Mike Smarsh) Hanson, Beth (Michael Genara) Hanson allof Canton; and one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sandy Hanson ofMassillon; there are five grandchildren, Shannon, Sarah, William C., Amandaand Angie; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and C.J.; one sister, Mary Birdof Caldwell, OH; and one brother, Larry Sanford of Dexter, City, OH alsosurviving. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. inDudlee Cemetery.
