Marietta after visiting her mother, Mrs. Philomena Schaad.


John Francis Schaad

From the Zanesville Times Recorder, 12 Apr 1948:
Marriage License
McConnellsville -- John F. Schaad, 28, Stockport,
farmer, son of John and Philomena Strabler Schaad
and Margaret Rose Kossby, 25, Stockport, daughter
of Paul and Mary Sebastine Kossby.

Their wedding announcement appeared in a competing newspaper, the Zanesville Signal, on 22 Apr 1948:
STOCKPORT--Miss Margaret Kossky became the
bride of John Schadd in a single ring ceremony which
was read at St. James church, McConnelsville, with
Father Murphy officiating. They were attended by Miss
Esther Smiraldo of Akron, and Corp. Donald Schaad of
Fort Dix, N.J., brother of the bridegroom.
The new Mrs Schaad is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Kossky and Mr. Schaad is the son of Mrs. Philomena
Schaad of Marietta. Following a brief trip, they will make
their home at the Schaad home on Market street which
they recently furnished.

The following article appeared in the Zanesville Signal on Nov 28, 1949: FIRE AT STOCKPORT M and M fireman were called to the home of John
Schaad of Stockport, Friday to extinguish fire which
ignited when Mr. Schaad was setting up a stove. Slight
damage to a window sill resulted.

The following article appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on August 25, 1951 CLASSIFY CATTLE ON SCHAAD FARM John and Earl Schaad of Stockport, have recently had their
herd of registered Holstein-Friesian dairy cattle classified for
type (body conformation) under the official type classification
program conducted by The Holstein-Friesian Association of
America, national organization of Holstein-Friesian cattle
breeders. Official inspector was C. L. Miller of Medina. this was the
first time the herd has been classified under the official pro-
gram, maintained in an effort to improve still further the
Holstein breed. Of eight eligible animals, five are designated "Good Plus,"
two "Good," and one "Fair."


The following brief report appeared in the Southeastern Ohio News column of the Zanesville Signal on 21 Mar 1957:
STOCKPORT - The Band Boosters club is
sponsoring a round and square dance Saturday
evening, March 23 at the school gymnasium.
Music will be furnished by the Bryners Band from
Beverly. John Schaad will call the dancers.

The following note appeared in the Southeastern Ohio Briefs column of the Zanesville Signal on 22 Jul 1958:
STOCKPORT -- Miss Sue Still placed third in the
western horse show which was held recently at
McConnelsville. It was sponsored by the Lakeside
Riding club. She was riding John Schaad’s horse in
the pleasure horse class.

The following report appeared in the Southeastern Ohio Briefs column of the Zanesville Signal on 8 May 1953:
STOCKPORT - Mrs. Paul Klinger, Mrs. Steve Kosky
and Mrs. John Schaad attended the CCL eastern district
conference at Marietta Friday. The Stockport CCL
receives its six-year award. The group took a tour of the
historic Anchorage on Putnam street.

Mary Kossky Schaad's obituary appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on July 19, 2006
McCONNELSVILLE -Margaret Schaad, 83, of 3072
E. Olney Run Road, S.E., Stockport, died at 1 a.m. Tues-
day, July 18, 2006, at the Genesis Health and Rehab
Center in McConnelsville.
Born Dec. 22, 1922, in Martins Ferry, she was a mem-
ber of the St. James Catholic Church in McConnelsville
and a housewife. Surviving are her husband, John Schaad, whom she
married in 1947; two daughters, Mary (Donald) Waite of
McConnelsville and Cynthia Schaad of Stockport; two
sons, John (Annetta) Schaad of Stockport and Leo (Holly)
Schaad of Beverly, 14 grandchildren; and one great-
grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Sab-
astian; father, Paul Kossky; two sisters, Rosalie Kossky
and Mary Spencer; and two brothers, Julius Kossky and
Steve Kossky. No calling hours will be observed.
A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July
20, at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21,
2006, at St. James Catholic Church in McConnelsville
with the Rev. Father Paul Walker officiating. Interment
will be in Beverly Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian
Foundation for Children and Aging


Joseph Schaad

The following birth announcement appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on Sep 23, 1953: Mr. and Mrs. John Schaad of Stockport, a son at Good Samaritan, Sept. 22.


The following Death Notice appeared in The Time Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on Oct 16, 1953: SCHAAD Joseph Allen, three week-old son of John and Margaret Schaad of Stockport Oct 13.


Cynthia Marie Schaad

Sources conflict on date of birth. Researcher Jim Hohman has 18 Oct 1959. But the following birth announcement appeared in the Zanesville Signal on October 20, 1957: Mr. and Mrs. John F. Schaad of Stockport,
a daughter, at good Samaritan, Oct. 18.


John Paul Schaad

The following appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on January 14, 1970: Pfc. John P. Schaad, son of Mr. and Mrs. John
F. Schaad of Stockport Route 1 was recently awarded
the Army commendation Medal at ceremonies near
Tay Ninh, Vietnam. Schaad received the award for heroism in action
while engaged in ground operations against a hostile
force on Nov 3 when he singlehandedly broke up and
repelled an attack by the enemy by intense rifle fire. The soldier, a member of Company D, Fourth Bn.,
Ninth Inf., of the 25th Inf. Div., entered the Army last Feb-
ruary and was stationed at Fort Jackson, S.C. before
arriving overseas in July.
