Richard Ray Harmer

parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Harmer of 631 Echo avenue,
and brother, Tim. Drills were to start today for the 20 all-star
cagers.

ZHS Cager in Star Contest
HARMER PREPS FOR GAME
Rick Harmer, Zanesville High’s outstanding center
headed for Georgetown, Ky. University, checked in at
noon Tuesday in Marion where he will play in the North
-South All-Star basketball game June 26.
The 6-6 Blue Devil joins nine other South team-
mates for drills starting today under head coach Dick
Berning of Cincinnati St. Xavier and assistants Cliff
Rose of Plain City Jonathan Adler.
Harmer, who averaged 16 points per game and
17 rebounds, has accepted a basketball scholarship
to Georgetown and will enter the school this fall.
The Kentucky state university’s teams have been
NAIA district champions eight of the past 12 seasons.
The scholarship includes room and board, books
and other necessary expenses for four years. He
will be eligible for varsity play as a freshman.
The all-star players, 10 from the south and 10
from the north, will practice daily at Marion and
reside at the Holiday Inn in that city. There will
also be tours and social engagements for the
athletes.
Joining Harmer on the south team are
Bob Arnzen of St. Xavier, Steve Christian of Rock
Hill, Dick Haucke of Cincinnati LaSalle, Tom
Heckman of Ottowa-Galndorf, Larry Hisle of
Porsmouth, Seve Howell of Columbus Eastmoor,
Phil Stillings of Urbana, Jill Sutton of Hamilton
Garfield and Chuck Schuyler of Lancaster.
A coaches clinic will also be conducted in con-
nection with the game.
The North holds a 3-2 advantage over the
South in the All-Star classic. The South won
last year at Marion with Maysville’s Mike Swain
as the district representative.
Tickets for the game may be purchased by
sending a check or money order and a self-
addressed envelope to North-South Cage Classic,
Marion, O. The check or money order should
be made payable to North-South Cage Classic.
Reserve seats are $2 and general admission is
$1.
A limited number of tickets may also
be available at the Marion Coliseum the night
of the game.

Among the marriage applications listed in The Zaneville Times Recorder on 14 Mar 1966 was:

Miss Roberts, Mr. Harmer To Marry
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Roberts of 3005 Venture Lane
announce the engagement and approaching marriage of
their daughter, Cheryl Lynne to Richard Ray Harmer, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Harmer of 2227 Maple Avenue.
The open church wedding will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday,
March 19 in North Terrace Church of Christ. Mrs. Gary Jay
and Charles Glass will be the attendants. Tom Roberts,
brother of the bride, and Tim Harmer, the bridegroom's
brother, will be ushers. Aides for the reception to be held
in the Roberts home after the wedding will be Miss Dorothy
Blair and Miss Susan Tom.
Miss Roberts is a graduate of Zanesville High School.
Mr. Harmer is a graduate of Zanesville High School and
is employed by Greif Brothers.

JILL ANN WARNER TO MARRY RICK HARMER
Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Warner of 3775 Woodland
drive announce the engagement of their daughter, Jill Ann,
to Rick Harmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Harmer of
2130 Tannehill street.
Miss Warner, a graduate of West Muskingum High
School, is a sophomore at Ohio University where she is
majoring in special education.
Mr. Harner is a graduate of Zanesville High School
and in June will be graduated from Muskingum College with
a B.A. degree in health and physical education. He is em-
ployed by the Muskingum County Welfare Department.
A wedding date has not been set.
