John Michael Mizik

`John Mizik's obituary was published in the Daily Jeffersonian on February 3, 2009
CALDWELL -- Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, for John M. "Slick" Mizik, 59, of Belle Valley, who died Sunday (Feb. 1, 2009) at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell.
Pastor Gary Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Belle Valley. Military services will be conducted by the Noble County Veteran Services Organizations. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the funeral home.
He was born April 17, 1949, in Zanesville, son of the late John J. and Arlene Yoho Mizik. Mr. Mizik was a 1967 graduate of Shenandoah High School in Sarahsville, and he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.
He was an employee of Bi-Con Services in Derwent. He was a life member of the Caldwell VFW Post 4721, a member of the Caldwell Eagles, the American Legion Post 641, Belle Valley, having served as past commander, and the Sons of the American Legion in Belle Valley.
He is survived by one daughter, Jackie Mizik of Belle Valley; one sister, Janet (Ed) Pitner of Belle Valley; three brothers, James (Carol) Mizik, Joe Mizik and Jeff Mizik, all of Belle Valley; three grandchildren, Allison, Carlie and Jarek, all of Belle Valley; a special cousin, Aubrey McCune; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virgil W. Sorg

The following engagement announcement appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on October 11, 1948.
ESTADT-SORG ENGAGEMENT
Mrs. Sophia Estadt of Silliman street, has announced the engagement of her daughter, Mary, to Virgil Sorg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sorg of Summerfield. The wedding will be in November,
Miss Estadt is a graduate of Fulda high school and is employed by the F. W. Woolworth company here.
Mr. Sorg was graduated from Summerfield high school and served with the armed forces in World War II. He is employed on a dairy farm near Gratiot.

CALDWELL - Mr. and Mrs. Urban Estadt, of the Marietta road south of Caldwell, announce the birth of a daughter, at their home, Thursday evening, Nov. 15. Mr. Estadt is the manager of the City Bakery on Bridge street.

JEAN SCHAFER IS FIANCEE OF THOMAS R. HARNETTY
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin L. Schafer of 42 Orchard Hill road are announcing the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Catherine Jean to
Thomas Robert Harnetty , son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Harnetty of Junction City
Route 1. Saturday, May 23 has been selected as the date for the wedding
which is to take place at 9:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
The bride, a member of St. Nicholas Catholic church, was graduated from
St. Nicholas High School. She is employed by City Loan and Savings Company.
Her fiancee, a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, is self-employed as a
public accountant. He was graduated from Junction City High School and Mere-
dith Business College. Mr. Harnetty is a member of the Knights of Columbus.

The obituary of Thomas Harnetty appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 7 Aug 1973:
Thomas R. (Bob) Harnetty, 47, of 3710 Harmony lane, vice president of Lumi
Lite Candle Inc., of Norwich, died at 5:45 a.m. Monday in Good Samaritan Medical
Center. Mr. Harnetty had been in failing health for three weeks and had been hos-
pitalized for three weeks.
He had been a public accountant in the Zanesville area for many years and had
been a resident on this area since 1948. A member of St. Nicholas Catholic church,
Mr. Harnetty had been active in church and school affairs.
Born Dec. 28, 1925, in Junction City, he was a son of William A. and Florence
Paxton Harnetty of Junction City.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his widow, the former Catherine Jean
Schafer; one son, Thomas, of the home; one daughter, Amy of the home; two sisters,
Mrs. Lewis (Marie) Beard of Somerset and Mrs. Margaret Schmell of Columbus, five
brothers, Clarence A. of 3104 Coopermill road, Paul E. of Columbus, James, Francis,
and Samuel, all of Junction City and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the
Blue Avenue Chapel of Bolin Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wed-
nesday in the funeral home.


Carl J. Schafer

In 1930, Carl J. Schaffer (26) and his wife Addie L. (25) rented a home for $25 a month at 916 Maple Court in Zanesville, Muskingum Co., Ohio. The couple had been married for about 6 years. Living with them were their children, Jeannette L. (5), Carl W. (4 yrs 9 mos), Eleanor M. (3 yrs 7 mos), and Ramona J. (1 yr 6 mos). Everyone in the home was a native of Ohio except for Carl J., who was from Pennsylvania. Carl worked as a bus driver.
